I am looking for any information about about the family of Samuel Brown. Samuel was from Pittsburgh, PA. His mother was Sallie Dean and his wife was Sarah who was from KY. Samuel and Sarah's children were to the best of my knowledge all born in Kentucky. They had lived in the Ludlow, Kenton Co. area in the 1860's. I do know that one of his sons, Ralph Grayson Brown, married in Newport, KY and eventually moved to Vigo Co., IN were he and his wife, Frances Bell (PUFF) Brown died. For a time, Aquilla and Rachel lived in Clark Co., KY and he claimed Civil War service at Woodford Co., but no record of any service has been found. Unknown what became of Thomas except that he went to live in an old soldiers' home in Sandusky circa 1894 but he didn't die there ! He was bondsman on 2 of his daughters marriage bonds in Campbell Co. At the time of his death in 1829 he owned property at 4th and Greenup Sts. The Province was probably Oldenberg, between Bremen and Bremerhaven. We think he came between 1859 and 1865. He live in Covington at first and by aboaut 1872 we find him in the Cincinnati Directory. He married Elizabeth Broerman (probably in Kentucky) and we think the first two of his six children, Joeseph and possibly Della were also born there. Joseph Shepherd Jr. is found in the 1860 Grayson Co., KY census, age 26 with Eliza wife age. 26 and daus. Julia 3 and Susan J 6/12. John H. Shepherd is found in the 1870 Grayson Co., KY census age 45, wife Sarah E. Age 37 and children Mary Elizabeth age 12, J. H. age 10, Benedict age 7, and S.W. age 5. Ingmire, pg. 12 lists the "death of Joseph Shepherd age 78 died 18 Feb. 1859 of old age, parent John Shepherd" making a birth year of 1781. III. A child and a grandchild of John B. Shepherds appeared in Leopold Twsp, Perry Co. The first was the marriage of Joseph Shepherd to Catharine Stephens 13 May 1832 by Chas. Coomes, a Catholic priest and apparently close friend of the family since he officiated at many of their events. The second incident was the grandson of John B. Shepherds to be baptized in Perry Co., IN. In St. Augestines parish we also find the 10 Apr 1851 baptism of James Monroe Shepherd s/o John Miles and Rose Ann King. Also the 1861 Perry Co., IN atlas lists J. H. Shepherd owning 80 acres in the SW corner of the county (Leopold Twsp) and another 80 acres joining Leopold Twsp with Union Twsp and ab. 2 mi. South of the St. Augestines Catholic Church. J. Jones owns 80 acres in Tobin Twsp. James G. Jones was Indianas first Attorney General although the office was not funded in the 1816 Constitution. It was in 1821 that the legislature established or funded the office for a period of three years and an annual salary of $200. James G. Joness signature as AG can be found on approximately twelve documents. "Warrick Co - 1885" by Goodspeed, pg.. 7 "One of the ablest lawyers of the Indiana bar was James G. George was born abt 1862 in Ohio. They appear in the 1920 census for Kenton, County. George was abt. 58 and Emma abt. 60 years old at the time. Their children were Alice Gaunt Sizelove, Ella Gaunt Showalter, Minnie Gaunt Fischer, William Gaunt (married Myrtle Jane Childress) and George Gaunt.
