He is 40y/o, and living in the John McFARLAND household with what appears to be his wife, Mary Ann and four children: Sidney, Sarah E., Melissa, and Canzada (?). 2) George BALLEW (b. Abt. 1768 in VA). In 1850, he is listed as 82y/o, living in the Benjamin McFARLAND household. In 1860, he is listed as 95y/o, still living in the Benjamin McFARLAND household. I am trying to figure out if either of these gentlemen are connected to Harvey BALLEW, or if there are other BALLEWs in the area connected to Harvey. Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!! Karen Chilton Beverly Fri Jun 26 1998 11:32:28 I am very anxious to get information concerning Thomas Graves. I believe that he helped found Creelsboro, and was a Revolutionary soldier. I also believe that he was married to Mary Chilton. Furthermore, believe that he had the following children:Thomas Chilton Graves, Richard Graves, Jane Graves, Catherine Graves, and Benjamin Graves. Thomas Chilton Graves died in Ashley, Illinois. Believe that he was born about 1801, (1880 federal census gives his age as 79). Thomas Graves was probably born around 1763. I am most anxious to know whether all this information is correct about one Thomas Graves, or were there perhaps two in Kentucky. According to information I found, this Thomas Graves died in Russell County and his first wife's name was referred to a Polly (nickname for Mary?) Also one of these two Thomas Graves was the first postmaster of Creelsboro. Any confirmation about this father son relationship would be appreciated, and any information that Thomas C. middlename was Chilton would be very helpful. Karen Chilton Beverly.

Robert E. Burton, Jr. Tue Jun 30 1998 20:52:57 My name is Robert E. Burton, Jr., the son of Robert E. Burton, Sr., the son of Joseph Montgomery Burton, the son of Albert Montgomery Burton, the son of Joseph Burton born in Wayne County, KY. Ive been told that my g.g.grandfather Joseph married A. Smith. I have been told that Joseph died at the battle of Millsprings when Albert was six. Albert, as I have been told had three brothers; Milfred, William, and Joseph.?? I was told that Albert had a cousin by the name of Newton Burton and one by the name of Molly Spears. My g.grandfather Albert married Abby Vianah Upchurch (daughter of Joseph Upchurch) and they had 15 children. Albert was born 01/01/1855 in what was then Russell County and died 04/13/1942. He and Abby were married 06/24/1879. There children were as follows: Martha Jane, b.09/09/1880; Emily Ann, b.09/10/1882; Joseph Montgomery, b.04/25/1885/d.03/09/1955; Molly Elizabeth, b.01/18/1887; Kitty Zorie,b. 02/16/1889/d. 04/02/1946; William Sherman, b.08/23/1890; Albert Lee,b. 06/10/1892, John Milfred, b.01/15/1894; Charles Wayne, b. 05/01/1896/ d. 07/12/1911; Lorinda (Rindy), b.04/03/1898; Belinda (Lindy), 11/11/1900, Fred, b. 11/18/1902; Etta Eva, b. 11/10/1904; Leva Elrie, b. 04/15/1907; Jessie Melvin, b. 07/03/1909. As you can see this line of Burtons was very prolific. I have more information on later generations however I am having trouble with Alberts father Joseph. If you have knowledge of anything pertaining to Joseph and his children or the ancestors of Joseph please contact me. All of these Burtons were living in Russell, Wayne, and Adair counties in the late 1800s and early 1900s. --Thank you!!

Linda Caraboa Colwell Fri Oct 30, 1998 21:17:01 My grandmother was Hattie Stephens Bennett. She was born on Bernard Ridge on 8/7/1909. Her siblings were Olza, OTA, Hulen, Eula, Gordon and Gobel. There was also a sister who died as a baby who is buried in a cemetary off of 127, south of the town square. Their parents were Lorenzo Dow Stephens (born 12/8/1860, died 10/27/1927) and Margaret C. Coffey Stephens (born 3/26/1867, no date of death is known, however, we approximate 1948). They are both buried in Lucenda Cemetary. Margaret was known as "Aunt Marg" by everyone, including her grandchildren. She had a brother named John Cleveland Coffey, who was know to all as "Uncle John". Their parents were John A. Coffey and Elizabeth Popplewell. Dow's parents were Nancy Whittle Stephens and either Belnia/Belvia/Belva Stephens (I can't quite read the death certificate). Dow's parents could have come from one of the surrounding counties to Russell County, or may be listed in one of the counties that Russell County was formed from in 1825. I have tried desparately to find info on Dow's mother and father. Does anyone know anything about this family line? My grandfather was Carsie Buell Bennett. He was born in Ono Ridge, Russell Co., KY. His father was William Thomas "Tom" Bennett and his mother was Lizzie Pearl (Tarter). Tom was born 10/3/1878 and died 10/14/1950 in Russell Co. Lizzie was born 1/3/1886 and died 5/20/1971 in Russell Co. We have reason to believe that the line continues back as follows: Tom's parents were Abner (born c.1852) and Elizabeth (Holder) (born c4/1848). Abner's parents were Green C. and Emeline (Dunbar). Green was born c1828 in Adair or Russell Co. Green's parents were Charles (born c1794 in VA) and Mary (Flanagan) (born c1798 in NC). Charles and Mary show up in the Adair County census records in 1823. I would truly appreciate any info on this family line as well. Thanks. Linda Caraboa Colwell [email protected]

Robert D. Cron Sat, 31 Oct 1998 10:34:59 I am trying to find the Marriage date of Henry E. Johnson and Alpha Smith ( around 1905 ). They were from the Jabez and Mill Springs area. I have looked in Pulaski Co. and Wayne Co. and found nothing. Some say Scott Co.......... TN. but found nothing there. Perhaps Russell Co..? Thanks again Robert D. Cron
