of William and Elizabeth (Cummings) Wilson. Perrin, Battle, & Kniffin's History
of Kentucky, Edition 3 Easley, SC: Southern Historical Press reprint, 1979)
contains two bio sketches that appear to be the same William Wilson family. The
first sketch, Hardin Wilson, p.1124, states his father was Felix Wilson b. ca
1814 and his grandfather was George Wilson, b. VA, died 1855 in northern Grayson
Co., KY near Falls of Rough. The second sketch, Ellis Kelly, p.1112, states his
mother was Caroline (Wilson) Kelly, the daughter of George Wilson. That George
Wilson was born December 30, 1782 and came to KY from Stafford County, VA in
1785, when he was three years old with his father William Wilson. The family
settled in Scott County, KY a few years, then moved near the Falls of Rough in
what became Grayson County by 1810. William Wilson, the patriarch, died at age
73 on April 4, 1821 leaving his wife and eight living children: James, William,
Hannah, John, Thomas, George, Charles, Elizabeth, Mary, Joseph and Benjamin
(twins). In 1886 at the time of the printing the sketch states three of the
eight children were dead.
The names appearing in the Bible record match the
names listed in the Ellis Kelly bio sketch. The birthdate for George Wilson in
the sketch is the same as the George Wilson in the Bible record. Twins, Joseph
and Ben, are recorded as born on the same day.
