BURL BILBRO, the great tramp, is dead, the event on which
himself and the country are to congratulated having occurred at a Madisonville
livery stable on the 13th. For more than forty years he had been a tramp and
beggar of the most worthless sort and was known far and wide for his utter
improvidence and his propensity for rhyming. He lived to be 70 years old by his
wits and it is almost unnecessary to add that he was nearly without living. He
was given a decent burial by a gentleman who will bring in a bill at the next
court of claims of Hopkins County for a coffin and burial clothes for a pauper.
Such is the end of such life and fitting tribute in it to oblivion

disgracefully unmasonic, by leaving his family in comparatively destitute
circumstances and running off with his sister-in-law, who also left her husband,
James Boothe, and several small children, the smallest only a few months old,
and gone to parts unknown, in consequence of which he has rendered himself
unworthy of the respect of the fraternity of which he was a member and the
church to which he belonged. Therefore, we take this method of publishing him
that all may take warning. By order of Reedyville Lodge No. 438 and Accepted

north part of this county on NOVEMBER 12, 1883; aged 76 years, 2 months, 3 days.
During his last afflictions the deceased gave unmistakable evidence of readiness
to depart and with Christ. Bro. Rowe was not a church member; still his life was
free from many of these blemishes often seen in characters of proposed saints.
None knew him but to love him. Four children: 2 sons and 2 daughters bow beneath
their sorrow and mourn that their father is with them no more. A lost relative
and friends in his native county will be saddened by the news that UNCLE BOB
ROWE, as he was called, is dead. His remains were taken back to Ohio County and
in the church yard at Walton’s Creek Baptist church he will sleep beside his
companion of his pride and joy who several years ago entered upon her rest
