RICHARD BIVENS, formerly of BRECKINRIDGE
CO., KY was stabbed in the neck and killed in WARRENSBURG, MACON CO., ILL. on
DECEMBER 22, 1900, by MERRIL WAKEFIELD. It is felt Wakefield was from Ohio Co.
but not proven yet.
MRS. NANCY WRIGHT died at her home on the 22nd and
was buried in the Adaburg burying grounds, she leaves a daughter.
MISS
BELLE FOREMAN of ADABURG, died on the 18th of spinal trouble, and was buried in
the Adaburg graveyard. She leaves her father, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
MR. J. A. GREER married MISS ANN MASSIE on the 20th at the home of the bride’s
mother.
Infant child of GEORGE LEE died and was buried in SUNNYDALE on
the 31st.

CLARA FULKERSON,
daughter of BUCK FULKERSON of Ceralvo, in the Equality Cem. on the 31st.
Little Lee, infant son of Thomas Allen of near Ceralvo, died on the 29th of
whooping cough.
MRS. TAYLOR, wife of FILMORE TAYLOR near Cromwell, died
on the 31st and was buried in the family graveyard Friday.
IVAN, the
young son of MRS. C. S. TAYLOR near Cromwell, who was accidentally shot about 10
days ago is still in critical condition and not expected to live.
MRS.
ANGELINE HERREL died at her home in Cromwell, on the 2nd. She leaves 3 sons, all
grown and heads of families.
MR. SAM HOWARD died at his home in
GREENBRIAR, DAVIESS CO., KY on the 31st and was buried in the family graveyard.
He was 92 years old.
DR. WILL KING, who was stricken with paralysis
several weeks ago, died at his mother’s home near PARADISE. He was buried at the
HOPEWELL CEM. Services were conducted by the MASONIC and KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS.
CHARLES HICKS of CALHOUN was found frozen to death lying on the roadway two
miles from WEST LOUISVILLE.. He had been drinking.
MR. WILLIAM WOODWARD
of near McHENRY died on the 31st in his 82nd year of age.
HENRY TAYLOR,
who was killed by the DEPUTY SHERIFF and some guards in HOPKINS CO. last week,
was buried in CENTRAL CITY.
Estate of J. D. RICHMOND probated
GUY
BURDETTE, the 18 year old son of BEN BURDETTE who lives about half a mile from
Utica, was found dead in his bed on the 30th. On the day before, he had been
wrestling with Jim Ray, when they both fell, with Guy hitting his head on a
stick of wood. The boys were just playing around, in good humor. When Guy got
up, he complained of feeling dizzy and walked home and went to bed.
NOTE:
In the FEB. 13th issue of this paper, the story changed, in that while wrestling
, Jim Ray hit Guy with a TOBBACO STICK, knocking him out for a time period, he
has been charged with the death.
BRO. RICHARD H. BENNETT was born MARCH 8, 1856 and died in peace JANUARY 31,
1901.
MR. L. L. COIL married MISS MARCELLA EDGE of Adaburg in HARTFORD on
the 11th
MR. WILLIAM BALDWIN of BEAVER DAM, died on the 12th and was
buried in the GOSHEN CEM. He leaves a wife and four sons.
MRS. MELVINA
REYNOLDS an aged and well known resident of REYNOLDS, OHIO CO., KY died on the
7th. She was over 60 years old. She was the mother of MR. C. E. MORRISON, our
town Marshal.
Died at the home of MR. SAM GAINS in FORDSVILLE, of grippe
on the 6th, MRS. MARTHA JOHNSON, aunt of MR. GAINS. She was buried in the
Fordsville Cem. She had lived with the family of MR. A. L. MORTON of Hartford in
the years 1889 to 1898.
Died at his home in HARTFORD, MR. E. L. HERRING
on the 6th. He was buried in MT. CARMEL CEM. in BUFORD. He leaves his wife and
two daughters, and his brother. His wife was M. F. HERRING
MRS. NANNIE F. CARPENTER, of DANVILLE was found dead in
bed, at the home of MRS. WILLIAM GEORGE, whom she was visiting in LANCASTER.

railroad in HARTFORD is coming along.
MR. ELVIS STEVENS and MISS OLLIE
CRABTREE, and MR. BURGESS LEE and MISS NATTIE CRABTREE eloped from McHENRY and
went to ROCKPORT, IND to marry on the 18th. The young gentlemen were from
Horton. The ladies were visiting McHenry.
Sister IDA B. CARSON was born DECEMBER 5, 1869 and died FEBRUARY 22, 1901.
She married Wm Q. PARKS on October 8, 1883. She was a faithful Christian, a
devoted wife and loving tender mother. She brought up two sons and a daughter of
her own, plus she took the motherless babe, a niece of her husband and nursed
and cared for her as tenderly and lovingly as she did her own.

other records show that the marriage date should have been October 9, 1881, not
1883 at shown above.

JEROME WILLET married MISS BELLE BROWN of NARROWS on the 21st.
MRS. MARY
ANN PORTER of near town, died on the 21st of pneumonia. Her remains were buried
in the Milton Taylor Cem. . Her son Van, died on the 19th and was buried there
on the 20th.
MR. GEORGE W. BOND married MISS KATIE McDANIEL of OLATON on
the 26th.
MR. R. P. BROWN, of ROCKPORT, Ohio Co., Ky, died on the 20th of
pneumonia, leaving his wife and t children.
Prof. and Mrs. L. W. GODSEY
saw two of their children die this week, RUBY age 8 months died on the 17th of
measles, DEWEY age 3 years died on 20th of the same illness. They were buried in
the PLEASANT GROVE GRAVEYARD. This leaves but one child for the parents to hold.
MRS ANNA SHEPPARD died at her home near Prentiss on the 25th of consumption.
IVAN TAYLOR son of MR. C. S. TAYLOR of CROMWELL, died at his home on the
25th. He was buried in the family cem.
ESQ. J. W. TURNER, age 50 died at
his home near Buford on the 14th. He was buried in the Mr. Carmel graveyard. He
leaves his wife and 3 sons.
MR. J. W. BREY of WHITESVILLE died on the
26th of pneumonia at the age of 69 years of age. He was born in Grayson Co., Ky,
but moved to Daviess Co. at a young age. He leaves 6 children.
MR. LYMAN DAUGHERTY of the Friendship area died last week
of pneumonia.
MR. JOHN DAUGHERTY died at the home of his brother-in-law,
SAM BROWN at Pincheoco on the 3rd of pneumonia. He was buried in the Greenbrier
Cem. in Butler Co., Ky.
MRS. TINA PORTER, died at her home near Hartford
on the 28th of pneumonia. She was buried in the Milton Taylor Cem. This is the
3rd and last member of the family that has died in the past three weeks.
MRS. SARAH PARK, died at her home in OLATON of the grippe on the 3rd, she was
buried in the family cem.
MR. J. J. FULKERSON, died at his home near Echols, Ky on MARCH 3rd and was buried at POND
RUN CHURCH on the 3rd. There was a large crowd of friends and relatives in

MR. NORBERT E. COOK married MISS CHARLIE ROSS
SANDERS both of OWENSBORO, on the 7th.
On March the 7th, FORREST and
NOBLE MILLER, ages 14 and 10, living in Cromwell, Ky, the sons of JOE MILLER,
fearing that mad dogs were about, took the shotgun with them, while chopping
wood. After some time had passed Forrest wanted to show his brother how he would
aim the gun if the dogs showed up, and in the process pointed the gun at his
brother, the gun went off, killing his brother.

R. PERRY BROWN, died on FEBRUARY 19, 1901
and buried in the COOL SPRINGS CEM.
MISS FRANCIS TICHENOR, daughter of J. D. and ELLEN TICHENOR died on FEBRUARY 15,
1901 of the grippe. Leaving her mother and three brothers.
Quite a tragic
killing occurred at the home of MR. JO MILLER, on HALL’S CREEK, at SULPHUR
SPRINGS on the 18th. Some trouble had come up between a son of Miller’s and a
young Capitola Davis or Cap Davis as he is called and Davis in company of J. G.
DAFFRON, called at the Miller home to adjust matters. Davis being a farm hand,
who had been working for Mr. Thomas Duke in the Quality neighborhood.
Young Miller was not home, but his father, the old gentleman mentioned above,
became engaged in a warm altercation with the visiting boys. Hot words passed
between the trio when Cap Davis raised a shot-gun and fired at old man Miller,
the full load entering his body and killing him instantly. Davis claims that he
shot in self-defense. The quarrel, it is understood, was the result of family
trouble of long standing.
Cap Davis came to town yesterday and gave
himself up to the authorities and was placed in charge of town Marshal, C. E.
MORRISON, who will guard him until his examining trial, which is set for
tomorrow.
MR. FRANCIS WHITE died on March 9th of pneumonia at his home
near Ceralvo and was buried on the 10th. His mother MRS. LYDIA WHITE died the
13th of pneumonia. funeral services were conducted at the schoolhouse on the
following day by Rev. Shugart.
The little five-month old child of MR. and
MRS. JOHN KEMBLY, died on the 10th at Ceralvo and was buried here.
CROMWELL NEWS; MR. FLOYD MORRIS married MISS MYRTLE BROWN on the 17th at the
home of the brides father MR. JOHN BROWN of PINCHOECO.
The four year old son of CLINT CROWE, a farmer who lives two
miles from Utica, fell into a pot of boiling water on the 21st, and was burned
so badly he died later that day.

DAM NEWS; MR. H. C. LEACH who has been ill for some time is able to be out
again.
SMALLHOUSE NEWS: Little MABLE, daughter of ORLANDO COX, died in a
house fire at her grandfathers Mr. F. M. ALLEN on the 21st. Her mother had died
only two months ago. She was born on JANUARY 6th.

MR. THOMAS C. JAMES, an old
and respected citizen of PINCHECO, died on the 1st. He leaves seven children,
his wife having died some time ago.
MR. JOHN ANDERSON of McHENRY died on
the 30th and was buried in the McHenry cemetery.

MR. LUTHER FIELDEN married MISS SALLIE HENRY on
the 31st.

BRO. JOHN B. RALPH
came into this world nearly 77 years ago and died in peace at his home in Ohio
County, Ky on MARCH 21, 1901. He professed religion and joined the Methodist
Episcopal Church South when a young man. He lived an acceptable member until
death. Bro. Ralph was a good citizen and an obliging neighbor, a devoted
husband, a loving father and an humble Christian. He was twice married and the
father of six sons and two daughters. One of his sons preceded him to the better
world. Brother Ralph has served his generation and the writer held appropriate
religious services over his remains after which he body was buried on his home
farm. We hope to meet him in heaven.

The Owensboro
Messenger says news has reached it of the death of ALONZO C. HOCKER in the
PHILIPPINES, he was a CORPORAL in the SIXTEENTH INFANTRY, who was killed on
MARCH 9th at SAN LOUIS ISABEL. He enlisted at Evansville, Ind. in MARCH 1899. He
was the son of HENRY D. HOCKER, who now lives in PHILPOT, this county. He was a
brother of PROF. J. B. HOCKER and MR. RICHARD HOCKER of this city.

JOHNSON died at the home of his parents near FORDSVILLE on MARCH 19, 1901 of
consumption.
CERALVO NEWS: APRIL 8TH;
Died at her home here MARCH 20, 1901, MRS. FRANCIS E., wife of MR. Wm BLACKBURN.
She leaves a husband and three children, a mother, father, three sisters and two
brothers and a host of friends and relatives to mourn her loss. After funeral
services which were conducted by Rev. Shugart, her remains were interred at the
burying ground at this place in the presence of a large concourse of friends and
relatives. She was about 33 years of age and professed faith in Christ several
years ago. She had many friends who loved he, but God saw fit to take her to
that bright region where sickness and death are felt no more.
MRS. FRANK
DENNIS died MARCH 31 of consumption at her home near Ceralvo and was buried at
NELSON CREEK on the following day. She was 25 years of age. She professed faith
in Christ before her death and spoke of the bright hopes she had for heaven. She
leaves a husband and one little girl, three sisters and one brother and many
others to mourn her loss.

near SHINKLE CHAPEL area died on the 7th and was buried at MT. HERMON CEM. the
next day.
MRS. CAROLINE DAHL, mother of the well known fur dealer,
PHILLIP DAHL died at his home on the 6th in OWENSBORO in her 82nd year of age.
MISS BEULAH COOTS died on the 4th in her home in BEAVER DAM of pneumonia.
MR. W. T. ASHBY one of OHIO COUNTY’S best citizens, died at his home near
ROCKPORT on the 2nd of the grippe. He was buried in the West Providence Cem.
MR. MARION ST. CLAIR died on the 3rd at his home near Olaton and buried in
the Salem cem. on the 4th.
On MARCH 27, 1901 MRS. MISSOURI LEE, wife of
MR. DAVID LEE died at their home, she was 51 years old. and died of pneumonia.
MRS. MINNIE B. CRABTREE, wife of MR. ED. CRABTREE was born on OCTOBER 22,
1871, married ED. CRABTREE on MAR 30, 1898 and died on MARCH 28, 1901.

COL. JOHN PETER SMITH, a former resident of Hartford and a very
prominent citizen of FORT WORTH, TEXAS died at his home in that city on the
11th.

SELBERT eloped with MISS ANTHA MAPLES to ROCKPORT, IND the first of last week,
they have returned and set up housekeeping in Hartford. She is 16 years old and
he is 19.
At RUMSEY, McLEAN CO. KY on the 29th, MR. DAVID BURTON shot and
killed his wife in front of her father’s home, ( MR. JOHN STORY) then shot and
killed himself. They had been married but a few months, yet did not get along,
she had returned to her father’s home, Mr. Burton when there asking her to
return to him, she refused and he shot her, then shot himself. He was 35 years
old and she was 23.
Work is coming along on building a Electric Railroad
between HARTFORD and Beaver Dam.
WILLIAM MORTON WILLIAMS has died.

KY was hit and killed by a train near his home on the 6th.

and sister to MR. J. R. COPPAGE of OHIO CO. and MR. W. H. COPPAGE, the jailer in
Leitchfield, Grayson Co., Ky.

At the old homestead, two
and one-half miles north of ROCKPORT, KY., six of his brothers and sisters and
nine of his eleven living children met on the 10th of May 1901 to celebrate the
65th birthday of REV. D. J. K. MADDOX and also the birthday of his oldest
sister, MRS. MARY B. ROWE. There were present at this reunion 34 people of the
immediate family. Although one of his sisters MRS. ELEANOR A. TAYLOR, whose home
is in Texas and two of his brothers J. B. and W. N. MADDOX could not attend, all
who were present spent together a most delightful and happy day.
This is
indeed a remarkable family, of the three sons and seven daughters of JOHN
MADDOX, only two daughters have passed away, the oldest is 81, the youngest is
60, the average age is 70.
REV. D. J. K. MADDOX has been actively engaged
in the ministry for nearly 45 years, and West Providence church of which he is a
member, has in that time sent out 8 preachers from the Maddox family, 7 of whom
are still living and two others of the same name have been licensed by other
churches.

Little GUY ROARK, son of THOMAS ROARK of McHENRY, KY. died on the 12th during surgery. at Hartford, Ky. at age 10 years. He was buried in he FISHER CEM. near McHENRY, KY.
SMALLHOUSE NEWS: at the home of her father, ALVA CALLOWAY, OPAL CALLOWAY, died
on JUNE 5th her age was 15 months.
It is planned that on JULY 2, 1901, MISS
BESSIE FITZHUGH NAVE of OWENSBORO, the daughter of MR. MRS. JOHN H. NAVE who formally
lived in BEAVER DAM, will marry MR. CALRENCE WOODWARD HUDSON of DIETZ, WYOMING.
It was noted by this writer that a number of people had gotten sick or died
in the paper from PARIS GREEN, did a search on the net to find out what this was
... it is ARSENIC.

5 month old child of IKE FORD died on the 30th of brain fever. It’s mother died
a few months ago, it had been given to MR. MRS JOHN NIX to raise.
MISS LYDA TICHENOR died at her home near POINT
PLEASANT on the 4th of the flux. She was buried in the family graveyard near
ROSS’S RIPPLE.
Infant child of PEN FULKERSON of CERALVO, KY died on the
7th and was buried there.
MISS RUTH MORRIS of CENTRAL CITY visited MISSES
PEARL and JESSIE NORRIS last week.

MR. DOWEL ST. CLAIR of OLATON died of old
age on the 6TH and was buried in the family burial grounds at PILGRIM BAPTIST
CHURCH in GRAYSON CO. He would have been 77 years old on the 19th of this month.
He married MISS RUTH PEMBERTON on AUGUST 11, 1845, they had 11 children of
which. His wife and 6 children survive him.
On the 7th, in OWENSBORO, KY.
there was a family reunion given at the home of MR. J. H. BOZARTH, the DEPUTY
SHERIFF of OWENSBORO. Among those present were his 75 year aunt, MRS. SUSAN
SHARP, his 74 year aunt, MRS. ETHEL JONES, his 74 year old aunt, MRS. SUSAN
SUTTON and his 69 year old uncle SIDNEY BOZARTH. All these people live in
DAVIESS and OHIO CO.KY.
MRS. FRANCIS STEWART, widow of the late WILLIAM STEWART, died at the home of
her son R. B. STEWART of CROMWELL.
MR. WILLIAM G. MARTIN, aged 78, one of
DAVIESS COUNTYS eldest and most widely known farmers died of paralysis on the 14th
at his home in HABIT.
MR. W. H. DOOLEY age 55, died at his home near
Hartford from a stroke, on the 14th and was buried in the MT. HERMON CEM. He
leaves his wife and six children to mourn him.

LIVERMORE, died on the 12th at the home of his son MR. FINLEY NALLEY. He was
born JANUARY 30, 1825. Two sons survive him, FINLEY and H. TAYOR NALLEY. He was
buried in the Buck Creek cem.

excursion barge, when suddenly the warfboat receded a slight distance and in an
instant she fell through the opening into the river. She was 18 years old.
Infant son of JOHN LEE ADDINGTON died on
the 8th and was buried in the Equality Cem.
MRS. G. W. TOMES died at her
home on Washington St. in Hartford on the 20th of typhoid fever. She leaves her
husband and two children to mourn her. She was buried in the Sunnydale Cem.
CROMWELL, KY.: At the home of the late
JAMES WILLIAM SHIELDS, one mile north-east of Cromwell, the following family
members held a one day reunion on the 28th. MR. DICK WISE and his wife and
granddaughter of BLACK ROCK, ARK., MR. RICHARD SHIELDS and family of COOL
SPRINGS, KY., MR. BIRCH SHIELDS and wife of SELECT. BETTIE SHIELDS, WARREN
SHIELDS and family, THOMAS TAYLOR and family, OZIAS TAYLOR and family Cromwell,
Ky. This is the first time the family has been together for a number of years
and probably they will never meet again as they have become widely scattered.
MR. A. D. TAYLOR took a group picture in the forenoon of the family.
MR.
BARNETT HUDSON of Buford died of old age on the 23rd and was buried in the MT.
CARNEL CEM.
MR. ROBERT A. BIBB, a conductor for the VIRGINIA /
SOUTHWESTERN RAILROAD whose home is BRISTOL, TENN. fell between the cars at
BLUFF CITY, TENN on the 25th and was crushed to death. He was the sister of MRS.
McDOWELL FAIR of HARTFORD and was 45 years old. He leaves a wife and four
children.
MR. SAM SHEFFIELD, CENTERTOWN
died of consumption on the 31st and was buried in the PROVIDENCE CEM.
MR.
MRS. A. C. TAYLOR returned on the 4th from ESSOR where they had attended the
burial of MRS. TAYLOR’S sister MRS. J L. BURKHEAD.

Mrs. Carrie Burkhead, wife of MR. J. L. BURKHEAD, died at her
home in PUEBLO, COLORADA, on the 31st. The remains were brought to Ensor,
Daviess county and buried in the family burying grounds Saturday morning. Mrs.
Burkhead, who had been in failing health for the past few years was taken by her
husband, on the advise of her physician to Pueblo last April in hopes of her
ultimate recovery. she improved for awhile but afterward took worse and died as
above stated. Mrs. Burkhead was a sister of MRS. A. C. TAYLOR of HARTFORD.
MISS KATIE STEWART daughter of PROF. WILLIS GREEN STEWART died at her home
in MANDA on the 31st and was buried in the MT. PLEASANT CEM.
A little
five month old child of MR. MRS. R. W. RAGLAND of ROSINE, died on the 30th of
cholera and was buried in the ROSINE CEM.
TAYLORVILLE, KY, AUGUST 8TH:
A scene that reminded he older citizens of
slavery days was witnessed to-day when Auctioneer Crabb stood on the Court House
steps and sold Sy Lewis, colored, to the highest bidder. A large crowd was
present, but no one seemed anxious to bid on the darky, probably because it was
uncertain whether one could get any real benefit from the negro if he bought
him. He was finally knocked down to Arch Hays, a young farmer near town at
$2.00. Lewis was sold into servitude for period of nine months upon being
convicted at the last term of court of vagrancy.
While Ben Daugherty was
working in a well near Prentiss, he was overcome by foul air, and when an
attempt was made to draw him out, the rope broke when he almost reached the top.
He fell a distance of thirty feet and when he was taken out, life was extinct.
He was 22 years and leaves a family.
Son was born and died a few minutes
later on the 10th to PROF. ROSS.
Son born to JAMES PHELPS, another
Democrat for OHIO COUNTY.
TIM AUSTIN, FRED W. DANIEL and WILLIAM DALTON
have joined the ARMY.
DR. Z. H. SHULTZ married MISS RACHEL SANDERFUR at the bride’s home in HARTFORD
on the 15th., she is the daughter of MR. MRS. J. P. SHADERFUR. They will make their
home in PLEASANT RIDGE, KY.
MRS. KATIE DUNCAN, wife of W. G. DUNCAN, died at
her home at GREENVILLE, KY. on the 18th. of heart problems. She was buried in the
CAVE HILL CEM. in LOUISVILLE, KY.

MR. D. W. EADS of the OWENSBORO area, died on the 24th of
heart problems. He was born JUNE 4 1835 in MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY. He married
MISS NANCY E. TURNER on JUNE 20, 1858 and they had six children, FRANK M. of
CLOVERPORT, KY, Wm Z. , JUNISU J. , MRS MINNIE WILSON, MRS. JULIA LAMB and MISS
BESSIE. of Owensboro. He was the youngest son of BARNET and ELIZABETH EADS, of
their children only ROBERT of GREENVILLE, JOE of MADISONVILLE, KY and GREEN EADS
of LONELLA, TEXAS are alive.
MRS. JOE DAHL of SETTLE, WASHINGTON has sent
a telegram that her husband lost his life in the sinking of the steamer ISLANDER
last week. They had been in the area for some three yeas, having left OWENSBORO
9 years ago.. He was the brother of MR. PHILLIP DAHL of OWENSBORO.
HENDERSON, KY... MR. JACOB SIGLER, a farmer was killed by his mule running away,
throwing him out of his vehicle, his head hitting a stone.
MR. S. P.
TAYLOR of BEAVER DAM married MISS EMM AUSTIN on the 25th in Calhoun, Ky at the
home of MR. JO EVANS.
MISS AMBIE FORD died at the home of her brother in
WOODBINE, VA. on the 24th of typhoid fever. Her remains were buried in the
Fordsville cem. on the 26th. She is the sister of DR. E. W. FORD of HARTFORD.
She was one of OHIO CO.’S sweetest, and most lovable young ladies an visited
Hartford often, she will be deeply missed.
MR. G. T. CARY of CALHOUN died
on the 26th of consumption. He was a prominent Lawyer for Western Kentucky. He
was buried there on the 27th.
MR. CHARLES TICHENOR of HEFLIN and MISS PEARL HOLBROOK of BUFORD eloped to
ROCKPORT, IND and married on the 28th. and returned on the 29th.
MRS.
LUCY IGLEHEART, of near PALO died on the 31st of consumption and was buried
in the family cem.

MADDOX and his wife have filed for divorce.
PRESIDENT WILLIAM McKINLEY
was shot on September 6th.
MR. L. R. BALES, died at his home ten miles
north of HARTFORD of appendicitis, leaving a wife and one child.
PRESIDENT McKINLEY is DEAD.
MR.
GEORGE L. KLEIN has returned to his home in QUINCY, ILL with his mother who will
be visiting him for a extended time.
MR. H. O. SCHROADER the well known
photographer will bring his floating studio on the 1ST.
Died in BEAVER
DAM on the 12th, MRS. ELIZABETH A. BOSWELL, wife of HENRY BOSWELL who died 23
years ago. She was buried in the Liberty cem. She was 73 years old. She left 4
boys and 2 girls.
MR. W. T. LEA, age 77 died the 12th two and one-half
mile west of Owensboro. She leave his wife, age 66 with five children. The
children are; TOM J. LEA, the former tax collector of Owensboro, but now in
Seattle, Wash., H. D. LEA of BRITISH COLUMBIA, MRS.W. G. HARDWICK of HARTFORD,
MRS. B. F. ELDER and MRS. Wm HOLLAND who live on the farm with their father.
JOHN LAWTON KLEIN, age 22, died on the 19th at the home of his mother in
HARTFORD of typhoid fever. For eight years he had worked for the Herald. He was
buried in the Oakwood cem. beside his sister who preceded him only a year ago of
the same disease.
MR. JAMES R.
WHITE, died on the 20th. On January 6th he would have been 95 years old. He
leaves his wife and four children, they are; JAMES WHITE, MRS. ELIZA LERSHER,
MRS. MARY HERRELL and MRS. SARAH DUNN.

MR. F. P. AMBROSE married MISS ESTELLA MAY MANKER on
the 23rd in HARTFORD.
MR. WAYNE RENDER has moved to NORMAN, OKLAHOMA to
make his new home.
MR. ORIN LEACH and family will leave Hartford this
week for OKMULGEE, INDIAN TERRITORY, where he will engage in the Livery business
with his brother.
ADABURG, KY. the funeral of MR. NATE HOOVER was
preached on the 22nd
Infant child of MR. ISHAM LANDRUM of SMALLHOUSE, KY
died on the 21st of brain fever and was buried in the Equality Cem.
ORVAL, the little son of THOMAS CROWDER died
on the 26th of croup and was buried at MT. PLEASANT CEM.

MISS ANNIE CONDICT of CENTERTOWN, died on the 2nd of typhoid fever and buried at
EQUALITY CEM.

MAY CONDIT, who died at the home of her parents in CENTERTOWN, KY. OCTOBER 2,
1901 of typhoid fever was the daughter of J. W. and SARAH CONDICT, and was 13
years 5 months 5 days old.
CHARLES GRADY, age 60 took a ounce of laudanum
yesterday and died from it today. He lived in Owensboro.
Infant child of WILLIAM DEAN of HINES MILL died on the 14th

MATANZAS, KY on the 15th.
MRS. QUINTON BALLARD died at her home near
HORTON on the 13th. and buried in the MILTON TAYLOR CEM. on the 14th.
REV. A. B. MILLER and his wife, former citizens of OHIO CO. KY., died recently
in LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. Their deaths were only three days apart. Typhoid fever
was the cause of their deaths. Rev. Miller was an uncle of JUDGE J. P. MILLER,
and his wife was a MISS WILSON, a descendent of the WINCLIFFES and a cousin of
GOVERNOR BECKHAM. Rev. Miller interred the ministry at 18 and is about 68 years
old at the time of his death. His wife never knew that he died. She had worn
herself out nursing him and after she took sick her case was so hopeless that it
was deemed best not to inform her of her husband’s death.
JUDGE JOHN P.
MORTON died at his home in HARTFORD on the 16th and was buried in the OAKWOOD CEM.
At the home of MR. MAT ALLEN of
near SMALLHOUSE, on the 3rd, his grandson MAT KING, age 18 died. MAT KING was
the son of JAMES KING of near HALLS CREEK, OHIO CO. KY
MR. WARREN ROARK
died at his home near McHenry on the 23rd and was buried in WALTON’S CREEK CEM.

J. A. KISSINGER, son of S. F. KISSINGER of FORDSVILLE,
shot and killed himself in SAN ANTONIA, TEXAS on OCTOBER 29, 1901. From the
letter he wrote to his parents, it is reported he was depressed over the death
of his wife, Bella in MAY 1901 in MEXICO. He was buried in SAN ANTONIA.
MRS. DR. ELIZA MORRIS, of RUSH SPRINGS I. T. is the guest of MR. W. B. MILLER
and family.

CO. now of LEXINGTON, KY married MISS LOUISA HUMPHREY in MIDDLESBURG, KY. last week.
MR. BUD ALLEN married MISS
SALLIE CUMMINGS in HARTFORD on the 14th.
MR. THOMAS JOLLY, a well known
farmer of BRECKENRIDGE CO. and brother to ATTORNEY GEORGE W. JOLLY died on the
18th from being kicked by a mule. Mr. Jolly was a 40 year old single man.
SAM BAIRD, of MATANZAS, KY. who had been hauling logs for MR. J. D. BELL,
died on the 18th of typhoid fever.
MRS. CORA PATON WILSON, wife of E.VINCE WILSON of PRENTISS, died on the 13th of
blood poisoning. She was buried in the Liberty cem. She leaves her husband and
one child to mourn her. She was the daughter of MR. G. W. PATTON, who now lives
in TEXAS.
MR. R. H. ROBERTSON and MISS ELLA HENDRIE, daughter of JOHN
HENDRIC will marry today in ROCKPORT, KY.
MR. GEORGE C. RHOADS of
CENTERTOWN died on the 13th of typhoid fever and buried in WEST PROVIDENCE CEM.
He leaves his wife and one child to mourn him.
MRS. MALINDA TYRO, one of
OHIO COUNTY’S old and respected citizens, died at the home of her son DR.
PENDLETON TYRO near HARTFORD, the first part of last week.
