Carter County, Kentucky Marriages 1839 - 1878

This is a combined index to three marriage records of Carter County, Kentucky.
  1. The first marriage book - referred to as "Book 1838" here. This book starts with the formation of the county in 1838 and continues to 1875.

  2. The "Blue Book" is the second marriage book and overlaps the first book. This book starts with 1852 and continues to 1857, with a few additional marriages between 1858 and 1878. It is referred to as the "Blue Book" because of the light blue paper the book is written on.

  3. The Carter County Vital Statistics 1853 - 1862.

In some cases a marriage is listed in all three records, and all are indexed as found. A "L" after a date indicates the license date. In those cases the marriage return was not available.
