This is so interesting to read, it has a lot of good information about the Mckenzie's. It takes them from Scotland to Kentucky. I hope you find alot of good information and hope you would like to add some new information. as I am always looking for new information, pictures, and ect.
Mckenzie I am sure some of the generations here are not complete, nor accurate. If you can offer your help or would like to add some family information, it will be greatly appreciated |

This House sits right behind the Cemetery on Brierly Ridge road the Cemetery is called Day Cemetery, it has also been called Brierly Cemetery and Mckenzie Cemetery. There are Mckenzie's buried there with no headstones just creek rocks, the information about the Mckenzie's come from there Death Cets.. This land was once owned by Thomas Brierly,
on March 18, 1870, he sign the land over to Sarah Jane [Phillips] McKinzie wife of Solomon McKinzie, Margaret Elizabeth [Phillips] McKinzie wife of Malcomb McKinzie, and others.
Deed to the land
There was a School House that sit beside the Cemetery and it may have beed called Brierly Ridge
School ( It may have bured down)
but the house behind the cemetery was still standing as of 2000. and there may have been another house
or houses back there at one time, that may have bured down.
the reason I am saying this is because the information from differ census reports.
June 1880 census shows Solomon, Malcolm, and George living beside each other.
Here is a school bus that has the kids from Brierly Ridge School on it. |
