Hester Family

Hiram Abiff Hester (5th generation) (fourth son of John Kenton and Susan M. Hester) was born on November 28, 1855. He married Martha Jett Hester on October 18, 1883. Hiram died in 1939. Martha died in 1947.

    Hiram and Martha's children included:
  • Gertrude Hester Donaldson,
  • Elizabeth Hester Jett,
  • Daisy Hester,
  • John Kenton Hester,
  • Anna Lee Hester Griffith.
Hiram and Martha's tombstone is located in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

John Kenton Hester (6th generation) (only son of Hiram and Martha Jett Hester) was born on September 28, 1893. He was married to Mabel Asbury, the daughter of Charles and Maud Asbury.

    Kenton (as he was known) had two sons:
  • Charles Kenton Hester who was born on October 25, 1925
  • Alvin Asbury Hester who was born on August 12, 1931.
The gravesite for both Kenton and Mabel Hester is located in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Charles Kenton Hester (7th generation) was born on October 25, 1925 and died on May 30, 1974. He married Dorothy Wheary (born October 11, 1924 to Velva Risk and Miriam Saunders Wheary) on June 5, 1946. Charles Kenton died on May 30, 1974 as a result of brain tumors. Dorothy Wheary Hester remarried (Clifton Campbell). Dorothy Wheary Hester Campbell died August 25, 2003.

    Charles Kenton and Dorothy Wheary were the parents of three children:
  • Allen Kenton Hester born on December 1, 1947
  • Sharon Wheary Hester born on December 31, 1949
  • Charles Asbury Hester born on January 12, 1968. (8th generation)
Charles Kenton Hester's gravesite is in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Alvin Asbury Hester (7th generation) (youngest son of Kenton and Mabel Asbury Hester) was born on August 12, 1931. Alvin married Phyllis JoAnn Buckner on December 21, 1956. Alvin passed away on September 30, 1997.

    He had one step son,
  • Phillip Jett.
Alvin is also buried in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Please note that

Hiram Abiff Hester was the son of John Kenton Hester and Susan M. Hester. I am not sure if (John K. and Susan M) were from Robertson County but believe they were.

John Kenton Hester (4th generation) was born on August 26, 1821 and died on January 28, 1895. His parents were Henry and Sarah Griffith Hester.

John Kenton married Susan Jane Mitchell (daughter of Morris and Charlotte Mitchell on December 22, 1846. Susan Mitchell was born on November 23, 1828 and died on February 13, 1905.

Henry Hester (3rd generation) was the third child and 2nd son of John and Margaret Gilbert Hester. According to the tombstone, Henry was born of February 28, 1797. Family records indicate that Henry was born on January 30, 1796. Henry married Sarah Griffith (daughter of Willoughby and Mary {Owens} Griffith) on July 27, 1820. Henry died on September 8, 1854 and Sarah died on November 6, 1867.

John Hester (2nd generation) was the only known son of John and Abigal Wright Hester and was born on June 11, 1765. He died November 21, 1843. He was married to Margaret Gilbert Hester on February 3, 1789. Margaret Gilbert was born in 1767 and died on February 7, 1854.

The John Hester (1st generation in America) that was married Abigal Wright came to Pennsylvania form Holland in 1740. He later moved to Fleming County, Kentucky.
