Drake, Sarah

Sarah Drake was born Aug. 21, 1855, died January 6, 1928, age 72 years, 4 months and fifteen days.

She was married to J.F. Drake in 1876. To this union were born eleven children, ten of whom survive, Mrs. J.M. Craft, Rosewood; Mrs. D. Ford, Avon Park, Fla.; Mrs. George Hardison of Kirkmansville; Mrs. B.F. Drake, Hopkinsville; Mrs. Shelby Carey, of Weir; Mrs. W.K. Drake, of Alabama; Mrs. Calvin Blake, of Clifty, Miss.; Ermine Drake, S.R. Drake and J.G. Drake, all of Kirkmansville. Besides her husband and children she leaves 23 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and one brother, R.Y. King, of Tennessee, and three sisters, Mrs. Dr. Lewis of Greenville, Mrs. M.L. Prowse of California, and Mrs. Rebecca Wells, of Bancroft.

She professed religion in early life and lived a faithful Christian until death. She had been in declining health for several years and had suffered intensely, but bore it patiently with unwavering faith in Him.

Funeral services were conducted at Emberry church by her pastor, W.W. Harrell and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near the church to await the Resurrection.
