About These Records
The early birth registers (1852–1861 and 1874–1878) come from the Kentucky vital statistics microfilm collections. The 1903 listing is known to be incomplete. Many entries for enslaved and free persons of color appear under given names only, with the enslaver or free parent noted in the record.
The Delayed Birth indexes cover records filed for individuals born between 1888 and 1911 who required official proof of birth for Social Security or World War II purposes.
