Old Kentontown Church & Lodge Hall
Replaced 1795 log church 100 ft. East. After 1803 Cane Ridge revival,
pioneers joined Barton Stone Christian Church movement.
New 26 by 36ft. log, frame & clapboard church built about 1835 when Rev. Samuel
Vanhook Lee
increased membership. 2nd floor lodge hall added 1874 for Grange Lodge #577. Outside
stairs
at rear. Enterprise Lodge #1716, Independent Order of Good Templars, and
Arba Masonic Lodge #620, chartered 26 April 1883, met here. Masons enclosed stairs in
1885.
Congregation left building on Nov. 16 1905. Masons met here until 1973. Probably last
original, unmodified, Christian Church still standing. Historical Society began
restoration
Nov.16 2005. Repairs nearly complete when destroyed by fire May 22, 2007.
