Thomas Curtis lawsuit

Chilton ALLEN of Clark Co. recieved $65 from Thomas CURTIS for 160 acres of land, beginning at a sugar tree in Wilda McKINNEY'S line, then to Jackson KIMBRELL'S corner, then with his line to the big road that leads to Lilly's Ferry, then with the road, etc., to the beginning (Bk F, pg. 414)

24 Feb. 1845

Thomas CURTIS to Jesse G. CURTIS, for natural love and affection I bear toward my son Jesse G. CURTIS, 160 acre tract, beginning at a sugar tree in Wilda McKINNEY'S line, then along said line N 50 W 48 poles, then with same line N 46 E 20 poles to Jackson KIMBRELL'S corner, then with his line S 8 E 34 poles, S 70 W 67 poles to an oak on the road that leads to Lilly's Ferry Rd. then with road S 8 E 4 poles, S 14 E 40 poles, S 24 W 86 poles, N 61 E 9 poles, N 3 E 30 poles, N 22 E 36 poles to a cliff, then with cliff to the beginning. March term Clark Co. Circuit Court 1845, On Hugh MAXWELL for the benefit of John EVERMAN, recovered judgement on a note for $150. against Thomas CURTIS on 20 Sept. 1845. EVERMAN assigned note to Lowell JACKSON & Co. Charges that CURTIS was insolvent in Clark Co. and possessed a tract of land in Estil Co. of 160 acres adjoining the lands of John SPRY & Wilda McKINNEY. Charged that for further purpose of cheating and defrauding his creditors, attempted to sell the land to his son Jesse G. CURTIS for consideration of love and affection. (Amended Bill) original note of $150. for purchase of land on 19 July 1841 from Thomas CURTIS was assigned to Hiram BLYTHE, BLYTHE assigned to Jackson SMITH & Co. who are the same person in this suit except Weeden W. SMITH who has since deceased, in April 1842, Jackson SMITH & Co. assigned note to Matthew CROW, and Matthew CROW assigned note to Richard CROW and Richard CROW on 16 Sept. 1842 assigned note to Hugh MAXWELL.

Suggest all to be named in this suit. Found in 1850 Clark Co. Census household 229 Thomas with wife Elizabeth children, John, Thomas, Theodocius, William, Eady, & David.

Living in household 245 was Wiley Kimbrell family. In Hshld 247, Arthur Everman 36, Susan 35, children...Samuel, William, Sally A., Allen, James, George...and Mary A. Curtis 20 (no relationship listed)
