*John died in a diabetic coma. He had aquired diabeties in the 1930's and
took up to 4 shots of insulin every day. He was about 5'6" or 5'7" tall
and may have weighed 130lbs. He was a night watchman for Joplin Body and
Trailer Works from about 1946 or '47 until ill health forced his retirement
in early 1956. A nurse at Fair Acres took it upon herself to cut back on
his insulin, and put Mr. Carl on a high calorie diet (to put weight on
him). He went into a sugar coma around mid-night, a Dr. wasn't notified
until about 6a.m. Mr. Carl died at 9:15. No charges were ever filed that I
know about.

12th St. was paved and she received a bill for $800. to pay for the paving.
She could not pay this bill and the property was turned over to the city
of Joplin. She and John also owned property at 1201 E. 12th St. (next door
to the 12th & Iowa address. Mrs. Carl again moved in with Clell and Barbara
