Trueax Cemetery

Cemetery found and documented on June 5, 2005 by Lois Poe, her daughter Colette Bivens and Bill Wheaton


The cemetery is located on the farm presently owned by James Stegel. It is in the NW portion of the county, off RT 539. It is at the end of CULP Rd. (last part of road is gravel). It is on the left side of the road approx. 1000 yards up a slight hill. Follow fence line up to it. Cemetery is about 50' x 100' in a thick overgrown area, partially fenced in.

Seven headstones were found, 1 fieldstone that appears to be a grave marker plus several depressions which appear to be old graves.

Mary Jackson Apr 8 1837 Jul 21 1891 wife of S. D. Jackson    "Here lies one who in this life was a kind mother, a true wife. She was by many virtues blest and piety among the best."
Porter Trueax Aug. 13, 1834 Nov. 17, 1912 No stone found.   Civil War Vet.   KY Death record 073/28957/1912.
