Brierly Bible

Martha Ellen Brierley Toomeys bible.

My paternal grandparents and great-grandparents were from the Bracken/Robertson/robertson co. area.

My grandmother, Arabelle Toomey Ramey, grew up in the community of Saltwell in Nicholas Co. and moved to Harrison Co. after her marriage in 1894.

Martha Ellen Brierly (sometimes spelled Brierley) Toomey was born in Bracken County in 1848 and later lived in Nicholas and Robertson Counties. Martha is buried in the Brierly family cemetery near Barterville.

Her daughter, Arabella Toomey, married William Sherman Ramey in Nicholas County and they moved to Harrison County. They lived near Leesburg for a time and later moved to Ammerman Pike where they lived until their deaths. He died in 1931 and she died in 1950. They are both buried in Battle Grove Cemetery.

Arabella kept her mothers bible and passed it down to her granddaughters.
