Sparks, Hura A.

Hura A. Sparks, 68, Dies Jan. 14

Powderly - Hura Alton Sparks, 68, died suddenly Monday, Jan. 14 at 12:45 a.m. at his home in Powderly.

Born in Muhlenberg County Jan. 25, 1905, he was an employee of the J. Zinsmeister Co. for 25 years as a salesman and office manager. He was a member of the Greenville Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Irene Sparks of Powderly; son, Douglas Sparks of Powderly; grandson; two sisters, Mrs. P.K. Langley and Mrs. Ted Nichols of Greenville; brother, Huba Sparks of Louisville.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Gary Funeral Home in Greenville with Mr. Thomas Orr in charge. Burial will be in Muhlenberg Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Powderly.

Spinks, Mary

Miss Mary Spinks, 77, buried Tuesday

Graham - Miss Mary Spinks, 77, died Sunday, Sept. 3 at 10:10 p.m. in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a lingering illness.

She was born in Muhlenberg County on May 4, 1890.

She is survived by one brother, Arthur Sinks of Graham; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Greenville with the Rev. Marvin Freeman officiating, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery at Depoy.
