McCoy, Hattie

Mrs. Charles McCoy, 68, Buried May 6

Mrs. Hattie McCoy, 68, died at the Hopkins County Hospital in Madisonville at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 4.

She was born in Muhlenberg County on June 6, 1898 and was a member of the Woodson Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Charles McCoy of Central City Route 3; two sons, J. W. and Charles Harper of Evansville; daughter, Mrs. Juanita Maddox of Central City Route 3; brother, Frank Jackson of Central City Route 3; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodson Baptist Church, with the Rev. Houston Noffsinger officiating. Burial was in the Coleman Cemetery.

Mrs. Mattie McCoy, 78, Is Buried Today

Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth McCoy, 78, of Central City, died Monday, May 2, at 9:30 p.m. in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital. She was born in Ohio County on April 18, 1888.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. James Tucker of Powderly and Mrs. Elmer Slinker of Central City; two sons, Edward Foley Stevens of Evansville and Roy Lee Stevens of Illinois; 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three step-daughters, Mrs. Lewis Dukes of Central City, Mrs. Andrew Jackson of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs. Carroll Hearin of Evansville; three stepsons, Charles McCoy of Central City, Clarence McCoy of Cheswick, Pa., and William W. McCoy of Owensboro; two brothers, Charlie Shoulders of Central City and Lewis Shoulders of California; one half-sister, Mae Clark of Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Services will be today (Thursday) at 1 p.m., the Rev. Ora DeArmond in charge, assisted by the Rev. Houston Noffsinger. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.

Richard McCoy, 78, Dies Feb. 24

Richard (Dick) W. McCoy, 78, of Central City, died in Muhlenberg Community Hospital Sunday, Feb. 24 at 7 a.m.

Born in Butler County Sept. 22, 1895, he was a retired miner and a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary McCoy of Central City; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Nell Bailey of Sturdivent, Mo. and Mrs. Martha Frances Hawker of Woodbury, Tenn.; son, Charles McCoy of Martwick; two step-sons, John W. Baggett of Houston, Texas and Henry C. Baggett of Evansville; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth and Lewis McCoy of Nashville; sisters, Mrs. Hallie Fulkerson of Central City.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Joe Davis in charge, assisted by the Rev. Ronald Burnette. Burial was in Forest Grove Cemetery.

McGuyer, John Benjamin

J.B. McGuyer, 82, Dies May 19

Cleaton - John Benjamin McGuyer, 82, died Friday, May 19 at 10 p.m. in St. Joseph's Hospital in Huntingburg, Ind.

He was born in Muhlenberg County Jan. 1, 1890 and was a retired miner.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Minnie McGuyer of Cleaton: two sons, Hoyt McGuyer of Santa Claus, Ind. and Maurice McGuyer of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; four daughters, Miss Chrstine McGuyer and Mrs. Renavea Stephenson of Dale, Ind., Mrs. Nadine Oliver and Mrs. Jean Simpson of Evansville; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Andy McGuyer and Robert McGuyer of Cleaton, Eck McGuyer of Morgantown and Emmitt McGuyer of Mayfield.

Funeral services were Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Central City by the Rev. Royce Wilkerson, pastor of the Church of the Nazerine in Evansville. Burial was in Miller Cemetery.
