Joseph H. Johns, Jr., 36, to Be Buried Friday
Nelson - Joseph H. Johns, Jr., 36, died at his home in the Nelson Community Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 10 p.m. following a lingering illness. He was born in Muhlenberg County Aug. 3, 1924.
He was a member of the Nelson Creek Baptist Church where funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 3 at 2 p.m., the Rev. Stanford Simmons, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Nellie Mae Johns of Nelson; brother, Carl Daniel Johns of Nelson; three sisters, Mrs. Roy Shelton and Mrs. James Sumner, both of Nelson, Mrs. W.A. Martin of Detroit.

Julian Johnson, 74, Dies in Louisville
Valley Station - Julian Pendleton Johnson, 74, Valley Station Route 3, formerly of Central City, died in the Jewish Hospital in Louisville Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7:30 a.m. He was a retired construction worker born in Butler County Jan. 20, 1883 and was a member of the Central City First Christian Church.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. in Central City with the Rev. C.W. Devine, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Central City, officiating. Burial was in the Nelson Creek Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ada Johnson of Valley Station Route 3; four sons, Homer Johnson of Chalmers, Ind., Oval, Leaman, and Welborn Johnson of Central City; three daughters, Mrs. Roy Geary of Central city, Mrs. Erbie Daniels of Louisville, Mrs. Joe Calvert of Valley Station; step-daughters, Mrs. Carl Watkins of Wyandotte, Mich.; four brothers, Charlie and Mel Johnson of Jetron, John and All Johnson of Bowling Green; 29 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Johnson, 72, Dies in Indiana
Mrs. Mildred Robertson Johnson, 72, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., died at the Lutheran Nursing Home in Ft. Wayne on Wednesday, May 16 at 9:30 p.m., after a long illness.
Born in Central City July 9, 1900, she was a member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Harold B. Cox of Los Angeles, Calif. and William R. Cox of Dayton, Ohio; daughters, Mrs. Arden Ober of Ft. Wayne; sister, Mrs. S.C. Gish Jr. of Central City; brother, J.F. Robertson of Sarasota, Fla.
Funeral services were at Plainfield, Ind. and burial was in Indianapolis.

Oval Johnson, 79, of 508 West Reservoir Avenue, Central City, died Wednesday, March 1 at 2:55 a.m. at Kentucky Rest Haven, Madisonville.
He was born March 11, 1909 in Butler County and was a retired mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Anna Mae Johnson; three daughters, Carolyn Curren of La Mesa, Calif., Margaret Wood of Central City and Vaudine Justice of Madisonville; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Homer Johnson of Louisville; three sisters, Erbie Daniels and Christine Calvert of Louisville and Donnie Geary of Central City.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ernest Whitely officiating, assisted by the Rev. Margaret Justice. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery.

Mrs. John Johnson, 81, Dies in Ohio
Dayton, Ohio - Mrs. John R. (Verna) Johnson, 81, died in Dayton on March 30.
She was a former Logan County teacher and had lived in Central City and Bremen. The daughter of the late Dr. Tatum of Logan County, she had lived in Dayton about 30 years.
Surviving are a son, John Walton Johnson of Dayton; daughter, Mrs. William Drake of Dayton; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Services were in Dayton, conducted by the pastor of the Third Street Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Green Briar General Baptist Church by the Rev. William Mallory, with burial in the church cemetery.

Funeral services for John Rufus Jones, 43, of Echols, who died at his home Friday afternoon, January 18, following an illness of one year, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, at the Echols General Baptist church, with the Rev. Henry Baize, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
A retired farmer, Mr. Jones was a member of the Echols Baptist church.
Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Becky David Jones, six daughters, Mrs. Mamie Dockery, Butler County; Mrs. Hester Arnold, Cleaton, Ky.; Mrs. Nancy Tooley, Central City; Mrs. Ruthie Baize, McHenry; Mrs. Anna Mary Bratcher, Echols and Mrs. Jessie Lois Keown, Evansville; three sons, Mance Jones, Rockport, Ky., William and Mitchell Jones, both of Echols; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Geary and Mrs. Lillie Bullock, both of Nelson, Ky.; three brothers, Thomas Jones, Owensboro, Arbie Jones, Chicago, and Russell Jones, Arkansas.
The Cecil Chinn Funeral Home, McHenry, had charge of the funeral service.
