Willis Lindsey Watkins Family
Descendants and family lines across Henry, Shelby, and Franklin Counties, Kentucky
Willis Lindsey Watkins was born about 1823 in Kentucky (parentage currently unknown). He married first Susan Stivers around 1839, likely in Henry County, Kentucky. The couple appeared on the 1850 Henry County census with four of their ten children. Susan died on 23 April 1867 (her burial place is unknown).
On 7 October 1867 in Franklin County, Kentucky, Willis married second Mary Frances Lee (daughter of William Henry and Nancy Chadwick Lee). By 1870, Willis and Mary Frances appeared on the Shelby County census with his younger sons Lindsey and George, and their infant son Edmond. Mary Frances gave birth to a daughter just months before Willis passed away.
Willis Lindsey Watkins died on 17 August 1872, and Mary Frances died on 17 March 1873. Both are buried at the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County, Kentucky, alongside many other members of the Watkins family.

- Martha J. Watkins (23 November 1844 – 27 April 1871) — Married S. Reeves. Her tombstone at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery is inscribed "Martha J. Reeves, wife of S. Reeves."
- John W. Watkins (9 April 1847 – 13 June 1913) — Married Sibbie E. Christie.
- James W. Watkins (17 October 1850 – 16 April 1872) — Married first Elizabeth Gordon on 3 August 1869; married second Martha Mitchell on 9 January 1871. Buried at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
- Charles F. Watkins (15 July 1853 – 21 May 1859) — Buried at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
- Henry C. B. Watkins (8 June 1856 – 4 June 1859) — Buried at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
- Lindsey Arnett Watkins (3 September 1859 – 15 May 1929) — Married Margaret "Maggie" Jane Harrod on Christmas Day, 1878, in Franklin County. Both are buried at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
