Thomas Collins was born on 4 February 1783 in Virginia. On 13 September 1811, in Franklin County, Kentucky, he was issued a bond to marry Mary Ann Bourne. Mary, the daughter of William Bourne and Susannah DeJarnett, was born on 11 March 1796 in Franklin County.

Thomas died in Franklin County on 24 March 1834. Mary died on 6 July 1864 in Franklin County and is buried in the Johnson Farm Cemetery (also known as the Collins Graveyard).

Historical Notes: Johnson Farm Cemetery

The Johnson Farm Cemetery is also known as the Collins Graveyard. It is located 100 feet east of Highway 151, 0.7 miles south of the South Benson and Avenstoke intersection, near the Franklin-Anderson County line.

According to correspondence from Linda Barricklow Collins, records at the Kentucky Historical Society refer to this as the "Collins Graveyard," as the land was owned by the Collins family for over 165 years.
