Lindsey Arnett Watkins was born on 3 September 1859 in Henry County, Kentucky, the eighth child of Willis Lindsey and Susan Stivers Watkins. He married Margaret "Maggie" Harrod (daughter of Elijah Harrod and Louisa Harp) on 25 December 1878 in Franklin County, Kentucky. They became the parents of eleven children.
Margaret Harrod Watkins died on 9 July 1938, and Lindsey Arnett Watkins died on 15 May 1929 in Franklin County. Both are buried side by side in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, Franklin County, Kentucky.

- Ernest B. Watkins (b. 18 October 1882, Franklin Co., KY) — Married Elnora North on 29 December 1904. Elnora was born 15 December 1881 and died 7 August 1935 in Shelby County. Both are buried at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Franklin County.
- Lula Watkins (b. October 1885, Franklin Co., KY) — Married first Luther C. "Floyd" Webb on 1 February 1905; married second William "Willie" Penn on 27 January 1926. Death and burial place unknown.

Married third Mina Sanford Metts (born 21 January 1897) on 20 June 1931. Willis is buried in the Frankfort Cemetery. The name and birth date of his third wife Mina appears on the double tombstone, however, she is not buried there (her death is unknown).
- Erma "Ermie" Watkins (b. 27 December 1896 · d. 15 May 1917) — Married Lewis W. Carr, Sr. on 29 January 1913. Lewis (1894–1956) is buried in the Frankfort Cemetery; Erma's burial place is unknown.
