Franklin County, Kentucky roots and descendants
John Edward Brawner, son of Theophilis and Rachel Wade Brawner, was born in Franklin County, Kentucky on 18 November 1821. He died on 2 April 1863 in Franklin County and is buried in the Penn Graveyard at Stoney Creek.
John married Margaret Ann "Meg" Pulliam on 3 January 1844 in Oldham County, Kentucky. Margaret was the daughter of William Pulliam and Cynthia Penn, born in Franklin County on 10 September 1827. After John's death, Margaret married second to Jeremiah Mathis on 7 March 1867. She died on 28 February 1918 in Franklin County.

William Frankfort S. "Pig" Brawner
Married Deborah Ann "Debby" Pence before 1867 (born 6 June 1844).
Children included: William VanBuren, James Edward, George Thomas, a male infant, John C., Mary T., and Fanny.
Walter Franklin Roland "Toby" Brawner
Married Eliza Jane Smither (daughter of William Smither and Jane Penn) on 31 January 1870. Eliza was born 10 August 1845 and died 25 July 1916. Both are buried in the Eminence Cemetery, Henry County, Kentucky.
Children: Margaret, Martha, Mary, Thomas, and Lewis.
James R. Brawner
Married Frances Lewis on 25 December 1876. Frances (born 27 January 1855, died 7 January 1918) was the daughter of Mahala A. Lewis and granddaughter of Lucy Semonus. Both are buried in the Frankfort Cemetery.
Children: Pearlie (born 20 February 1878, died young).
George Washington Brawner
Married Nancy Ann O'Nan (born 1857, daughter of Harmon O'Nan and Virginia Polsgrove) on 16 October 1873 in Franklin County. Nancy died 24 January 1921 in Trimble County, Kentucky.
Children: Cynthia Jane, Sarah Ann, Lonnie, Lula, Robert Lee, and George Edward.
Charles Riley "Big Charley" Brawner
Married Mary Jane Polsgrove Mayberry on 31 October 1872. A blacksmith and grocer, Charles moved east to Boyle County and later Lincoln County. Mary died 15 June 1930 in Morgan County, Tennessee. He is buried in the McKinney Cemetery.
Children: Jeremiah, Julia Ann, Felix, and Mary.
Cynthia Jane Brawner
Married Marion Harrison Chism (son of Greenville and Attaway Sudduth Chism) on 3 April 1878. Marion died 31 August 1939. Both are buried at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County.
Children: William, Manzy, and Attaway.
Fielding E. Brawner
Married Mary E. Banta (born 2 January 1869 in Henry County, KY, daughter of Nancy Ellen Black; died 2 March 1941). Both are buried at Antioch Christian Church Cemetery in Franklin County. No children were born to this union.
Malinda Ann Brawner
Married Robert Preston "Bob" Blackaby (born 10 April 1848 in Henry County, KY, son of Robert and Susan Aldridge Blackaby) on 20 December 1880. Bob died 1 June 1919. Both are buried in the Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery, Hall's Gap, Lincoln County, Kentucky.
Children: Minerva, Paul, Lou Ada, Silas, Margaret, and Magdalene.
