Breckenridge, May 1863 Col., November 1863 appointed Brig. Gen. - not endorsed by Senate, commanded cavalry brigades under Wheeler and Forrest, August 1864 Brig. Gen. promotion resubmitted - not confirmed, commanded District of Southwest Mississippi and East Louisiana, charged with incompetency and cowardice - acquitted, relieved of command by Forrest. Post War Career Lawyer, politician.
