Oates, Elgan

Elgan Oates, 55, buried Dec. 26

Greenville - Elgan Oates, 55, died Dec. 25 in Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a long illness. He was born in this county and was a retired carpenter.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Flora Belle Oates; three daughters, Mrs. E. W. Wagner, Greenville Route 1, Mrs. George W. Dukes, Greenville Route 3, and Mrs. Lois Ray McGhee, Greenville; 11 grandchildren; sister, Miss Myrtle Oates, Graham; three brothers, Milton Oates, Graham Route 1, Ervye Oates, Spottsville, and Kelly W. Oates, Wayne, Mich.

Services were held Dec. 26 at 2 p.m. at Yeargins Chapel Church by the Rev. Kenneth Johnson, assisted by Rev. W.C. Morris. Burial was in the church cemetery.

O'Neal, George C.

Central City - George C. O'Neal, 71, died in his home near Central City at 8 p.m., Saturday [February 23, 1957]. He was a retired farmer, was born in Paradise, KY, October 25, 1885. He was a member of the South Carrollton Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dee Humphrey O'Neal; two daughters, Mrs. William Sakal, Fontana, CA, and Mrs. Don Lam, Versailles, KY; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Sears, Indianapolis, IN, and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. John L. Parker, of Central City, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bobby Morris, Glencoe, KY. Burial will be in the Rose Hill cemetery in Central City.

O'Neal, R. Dee

Madisonville. Mrs. R. Dee O'Neal, 100, of 344 East Center Street, Madisonville, died Thursday, October 20 at 12:25 p.m. at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Mrs. O'Neal was a housewife and was born in Muhlenberg County on January 1, 1888.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Sakal of Fontana, California, and Dorann Lam of Madisonville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 22 at 2 p.m. at the Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Archie Oliver officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

Owen, Mary Margaret

Mrs. Mary Owen, 57, Dies April 8

Mrs. Mary Margaret Owen, 57, died Thursday, April 8 at 8:05 a.m. in Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

She was born in Muhlenberg County Nov. 11, 1913 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Central City.

She is survived by one daughter, Miss Janice Owen of Central City; son, Larry Owen of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Mrs. Rex Penrod of Detroit.

Funeral services were Sunday at 2 p.m. in Central city by the Rev. Richard Ramsey. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
