Kennedy, Sam

Sam Kennedy, 68, of Greenville, Dies

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon for Sam Kennedy, 68, at his home in Greenville. Mr. Kennedy died at the Illinois Central Hospital in Paducah, from complications following the amputation of an infected toe. He had been a section foreman on the Illinois Central for 40 odd years.

Surviving are his wife and ten children, seven sons and three daughters. Seven of the boys are in the Armed Forced, two being overseas. Two were home for the funeral.

Burial was in the Depoy Cemetery.

Kittinger, Edna

Mrs. Frank Kittinger, 79, Dies in California

Long Beach, Calif. - Mrs. Edna Kittinger, 82, widow of the late Frank Kittinger and a former resident of Central City, died March 19 in a hospital in Long Beach, Calif.

Surviving are a son, Melvin Kittinger of Long Beach; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Burial was in Golden Gate Cemetery, Long Beach, Friday, March 22.

Mrs. Gilbert Fleming of Powderly, Mrs. Mary Powell, of Greenville and Mrs. Ethel Hendricks of Bremen are her nieces. Roy and Denzil Noffsinger of Central City and Joe Noffsinger of Detroit, Mich. are nephews.

Knight, Edward Ray

Beech Creek - Rev. Edward Ray Knight, 63, of Route 1, Beech Creek, died on Thursday, June 17, 1993 at 1:50 p.m. at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Rev. Knight was born in Muhlenberg County on November 6, 1929. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and retired from Union Tank Car.

Survivors include his wife, Stella Knight of Beech Creek; two sons, Paul Knight of Jeffersonville, IN, and Marvin Knight of Beech Creek; two daughters, Rita McQuady of Greenville and Ellen Buchanan of Browder; six grandchildren; three brothers, John Knight of Calhoun, William “Happy” Knight and Chester Knight, both of Beech Creek; and a sister Geneva Mae Joines of Beech Creek.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19 at 3:00 p.m. at the Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. James Shutt officiating. Burial was in Wyatts Chapel Cemetery.
