D.L. Wester gets promotion in Army
Ft. Knox - Donald L. Wester, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Delwood Wester of Cleaton, was promoted to Army private pay grade E-2 upon completetion of basic combat training at Ft. Knox on Aug. 25.
Wester also fired expert with the M-14 rifle, the highest mark a soldier can achieve in his rifle qualification test.
The promotion was awarded two months earlier than is customary under an Army policy providing incentive for outstanding trainees.
As many as half the trainees in each training cycle are eligible for the early promotion, based on scores attained during range firing, high schore on the physical combat proficiency test, military bearing and leadership potential.
During advanced individual training, also of eight weeks duration, those who received early advancement to E-2 may be eligible for another “accelerated” promotion, to E-3 (private first class).

Williams, G.R. Williams, Joseph A. Williams, Miss Sallie Williams. He shall also pay to Shelly Hendricks, Slaton Hendricks and Paul Hendricks, $33.33 each and to Stella Jernigan, Forest Jernigan, Elbert Jernigan, Howard Jernigan, and Herald Jernigan, $20 each.
