Cottrell, Alfreda & Dallas Jones

Cottrell-Jones Wedding on Dec. 20. Beechmont - The Beechmont Missionary Baptist Church was the scene Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. of the marriage of Miss Alfreda Cottrell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Cottrell, and Mr. Dallas Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Jones of Cleaton.

The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dencil Lewis before an alter of white mixed flowers and palms and white tapers.

Preceding the ceremony Miss Janet Strader sang “I Love You Truly" and "Because," accompanied by Mr. Gene McLemore.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a waltz length gown of white chantilly lace. The long tapered sleeves were set into a fitted bodice with a portrait neckline. The buffount skirt featured a scalloped hemline. Her elbow length veil was caught in a cap of lace and seed pearls. She carried a white Bible topped with white carnations.

Mrs. Richard Pearson, matron of honor, wore a dress of blue taffeta. She carried a bouquet of white carnations.

Mrs. Bobby Wynn, dressed in orchid, and J. R. Baker, sister of the bride, dressed in green, were bridesmaids. Their bouquets were white carnations. Mr. Bobbie Wynn was best man. Messrs. Richard Pearson and Ray Jones, brother of the groom, were ushers.

Mrs. Cottrell, mother of the bride, wore a dress of aqua blue, with black accessories, and her corsage was of white carnations.

Mrs. Jones, mother of the groom, wore a blue dress with black accessories, and her corsage was white carnations also.

Following the wedding, a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. Miss Faye Jones, sister of the groom, served the wedding cake while her sister, Miss Hilda Jones, presided at the punch bowl. Following the reception, the couple left for an extended trip to the southern states.

For traveling the bride chose a white tailored dress and black accessories. The couple will make their home in Beechmont.
