Imbler Cemetery
Jacob & William Imbler are listed among the well-known first settlers who lived in the Old Liberty and Murphy Lake Country along with John S. Atkinson, George O. Prowse, Jesse Murphy, Jacob Oglesby, Richard Thompson and others.
Jacob, who lived west of Greenville, raised over 2000 pounds of tobacco to the acre. According to a family story, it is said that, about the year 1850, he offered to bet $3000 that he could raise 3000 pounds of tobacco regardless the weather on any acre of ground he might select on his farm or in his neighborhood. His neighbors were so certain that he would succeed and the wager was never accepted.
From Greenville. Take US 62 west to KY-189. Turn south onto KY-189 and go about 7 miles to the intersection of KY-189 and KY-853. About a mile past KY-853 on the right will be a gated drive. The gate will be locked and you need permission to enter property (ask at the brick house diagonally east across the road). The cemetery is 600 feet north of KY-189 and near a large pond. Approximate GPS coordinates: 37.129644, -87.298008.
