Affidavit of George Maddox

State of Kentucky, Franklin County: The affidavit of George Maddox, age about fifty-seven years, being first sworn, states that he is well acquainted with Larkin Carr named in the within declaration, that he served in the same company with him and he is the identical person he represents himself to be, that he has been well acquainted ever since they performed the Militia service in his declaration he has set forth.

Military Discharge Papers

Discharge: By the virtue of a general order of the Eleventh day of April 1814, Larkin Carr, a private soldier of Capt. Jos. R. Gilbert's Company of the 6th regiment of Virginia Militia is hereby discharged from service, having performed the tour of duty required under the Act of Congress of the 10th of April 1812.

Bounty Land Declaration (1850)

On the 5th day of November A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace within and for the county and state aforesaid, Larkin Carr, age sixty-seven years, a resident of Franklin County in the state of Kentucky, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical Larkin Carr, who was a private in the Company commanded by Captain Joseph R. Gilbert in the 6th Regiment of volunteers in the state of Virginia from the County of Prince William commanded by Daniel Coleman, Lieutenant Col in the war with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812. He volunteered at Dumfries in the County of Prince William in the state of Virginia about the 11th day of October 1812 for the term of six months and continued in service in said war for the term of six months and was honorably discharged at Norfolk in the state of Virginia on the 11th day of April 1814, as will appear by his original certificate of discharge within presented and as the muster rolls of said company will show. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act granting bounty land to certain officers who have been engaged in the military service of the United States.

Bounty Land Declaration (1855)

On this 31st day of March 1855 personally appeared before me the undersigned a Justice of the Peace in and for the county and state aforesaid Larkin Carr, age seventy-four years, a resident of the county of Franklin and state aforesaid, who being duly sworn according to law swears that he is the identical Larkin Carr who was a private in the Company commanded by Captain Joseph Gilbert in the regiment of Virginia Militia in the war with Great Britain declared by the United States in 1812 for the term of six months and continued in service for more than fourteen days. He has before made application for Bounty Land under the Act of September 28, 1850 and secured a land warrant therefor which he since has legally disposed of and cannot now return. The number of said warrant is 2780. On account of applicant's age he cannot remember his Colonel.
He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining Bounty Land to which he may be entitled under the act approved March 1855.
