In the name of God amen. I Carter Blanton of the County of Franklin being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory for which I thank God and calling to mind the uncertainty

of human life and being desiours to dispose of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with and I give and bequeath the same in manner following that is to say.

Item 1st I hereby lend to my beloved wife Susan Blanton during her natural life the two following slaves namely Parris and Cordelia also all my household furniture consisting of beds chairs

tables & also my carriage and horse also two thousand dollars in specie as soon as it can be collected after my deceased out of any debts due me by bond note of otherwise the object

is that said two thousand dollars is to be loaned on interest and the interest there of to be appropriated to her support and to be at her disposal my will is that what remains of the above

property at the deceased of my said wife with the two thousand dollars principal above mentioned shall be divided among all my children namely Peggy Coleman Polly Snell Berdet A.

Blanton Henry Blanton William C Blanton and Eliza Daniel two thousand three hundred dollars it is my will that these leggacies shall stand without interrption as they are and I hereby

given and bequeath to my said children all the balance of my said estate whether real personal or mixed which may be mine at my decease to them and their heirs forevere to be dived

equally among them on the most fair and equalable principle.

Item 3rd It is my will that the carriage and horse above mentioned in this will shall be considered the entire property of my said wife and to be disposed of as she m ay think proper

after my deceased.

Item 4th It is my further will that my two servants Sampson and Isabell shall be free from and after my death but should it so happen that they or either of them should be unable to

support themselves in that ca se they shall be supported by my executors out of my estate.

Item 5th It is also my will that they executors hereinafter named not either of them shall make any distribution of any part of my estate to any one or more of my legatees until all of

them the said legatees enter into or give to Edmund T Coleman their joint or seperate bonds so as to indemnify him against the payment of any debts or cost that might come against

him in consequence of on account of his being my security as administrator of the estate of an unknown person whose papers bore the name of Benedict Costy and John Baptist

Larona on them.

Item 6th It is my will that at my death my son Henry take York as a part of his distributive share or as he may be valued and that my son William to take Harry as a part of his

distributive share or as he may be valued and that at my wifes death my daughters Peggy Coleman and Eliza Daniel take Parris and Cordelia the one take one and the other take

the other by lot or any agreement by them made otherwise as part of their distribution shares at their valuations and it is further my will that the above named four negroes York

Parris Harry and Cordelia be valued to the above legatees by men or persons chosen by one two or more of my executors as property to my said heirs as above mentioned and

not as slaves to speculators or negro traders and also at my death George and Moned two more of my slaves shall have the privelege to choose masters to buy them if they can

find such as will give a fair valuation for them accroding to the above needs of valuation.

Item 7th It is also my will that all the notes hereafter enumerated in this item as well as all other given me by any of my children or legatees after the last day of December 1834

shall be considered as a part of my estate and be equally dived among my said children or heirs towit Edward S Coleman two notes amounting to five hundred and forty dollars.

Birdet A Blantons fur notes amounting to six hundred and fifty dollars Henry Blantons two notes amounting to seven hundred dollars Polly Snells note of five hundred Dollars

William C. Blantons two notes amounting to seven hundred and forty two dollars and fifty cents and Eliza Daniels note of five hundred dollars.

Item 8th and last It is also my will and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my three sons Birdet A. Henry and William C. Blanton with my tow sons in law Edwards S.

Coleman and Robert Snell executors of this my last will and testament hereby revokig all other wills or former wills or testaments hereto fore made by me. In witness whereof I

have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23rd day of February 1835 all corrections and erasures were made before Signed.

I Carter Blanton now of Franklin County do hereby make and publish this codicil to be added to my last and testament and it is for the most part explanatory of the interest

of the two thousand dollars mentioned in the first Item of my will. My will is that the interest on the said two thousand dollars that may be due thereon as well as the interest

that may be arising(?) and become due after it is collected loned as directed in the said first Item is and shall be appropriated to the support and disposal of my said wife.

It is further my will that Edward S. Coleman take and have my old man servant Joseph and have his service now for his support hereafter should he live to be old and inform

nevertheless he the said Joseph is to be at my servise and command as long as I live and it is my will that this codicil be added to and made a part of my will. In Testimony

whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this 23rd day of February 1835.
