In the name of God Amen, I John Brown of Franklin County and state of Kentucky being weakly in body, but sound in mind and memory knowing that it is appointed

for all men to die, Doth make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following this Twenty fifth day of September one thousand eight hundred

and five. Item, I give and bequeath unto my wife Nancy Brown, one negro woman of the name of Hannah and the use of a negro man called big Jim and at her decease

to my son William Brown and in case William never returns from the Army the said big Jim to go to my daughter Obedience, likewise to my wife two feather beds and

furniture, likewise my big black mare and gray horse and all my waring close to dispose of at her pleasure only the above Jim, likewise my loom and gears and _______

____ and two spinning wheels, likewise I give her one third part of my cattle, hogs and sheep, one half of my pewter, one half of my earthware, likewise the corner

cupboard and a large walnut chest, likewise two plows and two hilling hoes, likewise a half dozen knives and forks. I lend the plantation I now live upon to my wife

during her natural life or widowhood, likewise a large iron kettle, pot and dutch over and my square table and sugar desk. Item, I give and bequeath unto my son, William

Brown all the land I now own on South Benson, not deeded away, likewise a bay horse with a small star in his forehead of the name of Warrick, likewise a horse colt of

the name of Luby, likewise one feather bed and furniture to him and his heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Polly Brown what she has had in

possession already received, also my riding mare and no more, the above to her and her heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Daniel Brown the land

and plantation I now live upon, his mother not to be interrupted her natural life, likewise a negro man of the name of Little Jim, likewise two feather beds and furniture,

likewise a large brown horse by the name of Jack, likewise my desk and bookcase and six walnut chairs, likewise the balance of my hogs not given away, likewise the

balance of my sheep, likewise two hilling hoes, to him and his heirs forever. Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter Obedience Brown, one negro woman of the name

Bell, likewise a bay mare came out of my riding mare of the name of Jenny, likewise one silk rigg, likewise that part of the sheep not given away to her, likewise one

small trunk, likewise the balance of pewter and earthware to her and her heirs forever. My will is that six months after my decease that all of my property that is not

given away shall be sold at public sale and equally divided between my wife and William, Daniel and Obedience. My will and desire is that my brothers Jesse Brown

and Daniel Brown and William Montgomery do act as the administrators of my will and testament. I do hereby disanual all other wills by me and this to stand firm.

At a court held for Franklin County on Monday the 15th day of September 1806. A writing purporting to be the last will and testament of John Brown, deceased was

produced in Court and proven by the oaths of William Hickman, Moses Hickman and Richard Roberts subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
