Baldwin–Wash Cemetery
Franklin County, Kentucky
Located in the Union Ridge / Hamilton Lane / Hall Road triangle of northeastern Franklin County, next to the log house occupied by the Baldwin family until the 1920s. The property is owned by the Michael Lynd estate (widow in Lexington). This cemetery was not recorded in Church and Family Graveyards of Franklin County, Kentucky (1976).

Family Notes
Sallie Boots was born in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland, daughter of Bartes and Rachel Newman Boots. She married first James Baldwin and had children: Bartes (m. Hannah Gatewood); Rachel (wife of John Page); Andrew (m. Rebecca Sacry); Warren (m. Judah Green, widow of Presley Hampton); Granville (m. Nancy Sacry); and Benjamin Franklin. James Baldwin died between 1817–1821. Sallie then married Silas Douthard (Douhitt) and died January 2, 1864. Silas may be buried here — several rocks stand near her stone.
Sarah Jane Baldwin, daughter of Granville and Nancy Sacry Baldwin, married Thomas Wash. A number of the Wash children are buried here.
Thomas S. Baldwin married Delania Jane Bledsoe, daughter of David C. and Mildred Bledsoe. She and her mother Mildred (wife of D. C. Bledsoe) are also buried here.
Contemporary notices
The Frankfort Roundabout — Saturday, July 17, 1886:
Died, at Woodlake last Saturday at noon, of flux, Mrs. Jesse Wash, in her 29th year. She leaves a husband
and 3 small children, the youngest only 7 months old… Funeral by Rev. C. L. Ford at the residence of
Mr. C. Murphy, two and a half miles from Stamping Ground, on Cedar Pike; remains interred in the family
burying ground at the same place.
The Frankfort News — Wednesday, July 7, 1909:
Mrs. Nancy Wash, mother of Harvey S. Wash of this city, died at the home of her son Thomas Wash at
Stamping Ground… aged eighty-two… Survived by Thomas (Stamping Ground); Harvey (this city); Sim B.
(Wayne City, Illinois); Jesse (Elmville); Mrs. Fannie Mefford (Windfall, Indiana). Interred in the
family burying ground three miles from Stamping Ground.
