Grant & Nannie Brown Family

The attached picture is of Grant & Nannie Brown and family.

Standing - Nancy Virginia Rose Brown (Nannie), William Grant (Grant), Lula Brown Monce, John E. Brown, Elmer Brown.

Kneeling - Rachel Brown Kemplin

Seated - Maggie Brown Brewer, Sarah Brown Hughes McGraw, Amanda Brown Buchanan, Mary Brown Underwood.

Nancy Brown helped bring into this world many babies of the Brown & Rose families. She was also the one people went to for doctoring when there was no doctor close by. She was a very intelligent woman.

Commentary provided by Pamela Bryant - The Brown sisters were the most loving and caring women I've have ever known. Mary Underwood is my grandmother who lived to be just over 104. She died only because her body gave out. Her mind was wonderful, sharp and clear. Over the course of her lifetime she fed hundreds of people including hobos during the depression. Her home was always open to any one who needed a place to stay, whether for a night or for months at a time. All the Brown women were wonderful Christian ladies, they all had wonderful memories of the the "Home Land" - Wolfe Co., Kentucky. All the sisters came to the Middletown, Ohio area except Maggie who married Floyd Brewer and lived in Wolfe County and later in Estill Co. Grant Brown was the kindest, sweetest man. He was a loving gentle father. With the death of Powell & Elmer, there are no more "Browns". John had one son who was killed years ago in California. His son had daughters..
