John Rose Jr. Log House

This log house was built by John Rose Jr. at Stillwater. The photo was taken about 1850. The house was later owned by his son Jeff. It took a cannonball above the front door during the Civil War. It was covered with weatherboarding in the early 1900's and existed until the 1960's. Then it was disassemble and taken to Campton with the intention of turning it into a museum. However, it was never reassembled.

John Rose Farm

This home now exists on the John Rose Jr. farm as of 2005. The Mt. Parkway is just behind the photographer in this image. The Buchanan-Rose Cemetery is on the side of a hill to the right of this home.
