OBITUARY: Stamper, Murrell, January 12, 2004, Lexington Herald-Leader From: SA3336@aol.com Date: January 12, 2004 Monday Murrell W. Stamper BEATTYVILLE - Murrell W. Stamper, 71, husband of Virginia Lee Dickerson Stamper, died Sun., Jan. 11, 2004. He was a retired postmaster of 33 years from Beattyville, an Army veteran, a member of the Proctor Lodge #213 F&AM, the Lexington Scottish Rites, the Lee County Shrine Club where he was a past president and was currently the acting ambassador for 2004, the Oleika Shrine Temple in Lexington, and was a member of the Beattyville First Church of God. In addition to his wife, Virginia, Mr. Stamper is survived by his son, Dennis W. Stamper and wife, Sherry, of London, KY; one granddaughter, Ginni LeAnn Stamper of London; two brothers, Edward G. and Russell S. Stamper, both of Beattyville; and one sister, Mrs. Ruby Fraley of Beattyville. Mr. Stamper was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Margaret Stamper, one sister, Betty Ruth Stamper Land and two brothers, Col. Archie Lee and Donald Elmer Stamper. Services will be 2 pm Tue., Jan. 13, 2004, conducted by Bro. Garett Thomas at the Newnam Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 7-9 pm Mon. evening. Pallbearers will be Ronnie, Nicky and Jeff Dickerson, Kenneth Miller, Greg Charles and Scott Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Lester Arnold, Jr. Reed, Frank Hacker and Bradley Little.
