HALSEY, 71 DIED DECEMBER 23 Mrs. Lenis Sweeney Halsey, 71, wife of Morton Halsey, died Saturday morning, Dec. 23, at her home at Sewell, Breathitt County, after an illness of eight years. Mrs. Halsey was born in Wolfe County, March 28, 1890, daughter of Charlie and Mary J. Lawson Sweeney. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Elzie and Herschel Halsey, Sewell; three daughters, Mrs. Lucy Gabbard, Hazard; Mrs. Earl Derrickson, Lebanon, and Mrs. Sarah Coil, Walkerton, Ind.; three brothers, Joe Sweeney, Simpson, Asa Sweeney, Maytown, and Curt Sweeney, Greensburg, Ind.; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 25, at the Frozen creek Community Church by the Rev. Charles Lovely and Rev. Green Ratliff.
