OBITUARY: Salley, James Vernon From: vivianmoon@juno.com    Date: May 23, 2004 May 23, 2004 Middletown Journal, Middletown, Ohio James Vernon Salley, 80, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, May 19, at his residence, follwoing a lengthy illness. He was born in Wolfe County, Ky., May 26, 1923, a son of Menifee Jackson Salley and Lilie Mae (Stamper) Salley. He worked for 30 years as a machinist for the Dayton Walther Corp. Mr. Salley was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church. He enjoyed carpentry and collectible cars, but his favorite hobby was his grandchildren and family. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Grace (Creech) Salley; four daughters, Joyce (Tom) Rowland, Linda (Charlie) Rowland, Mae (Larry) Collopy, and Kathi (Larry) Quillen; two sons, Jackson (Sue) Collopy and Ray (Polly) Salley; 10 grandchildren, Rhonda Roberts, Keith South, Kevin South, Todd Salley, Travis Salley, Jason Scott Shalley, Butch Quillen, Sherie Little, Christie Rowland, and Chaz Salley; eight great-grandchildren, Nikki Roberts, Nina Roberts, Brandon Salley, Devon Salley, Ashley Little, Jacob Little, Kyle Quillen, and Robbie Salley; a sister, Gladys (George) McDonald of Bellbrook; and a brother, Kash (Dorothy) Salley of San Juan Capistrano, Calif. He was preceded in deathy by his parents; a son, James Everett Salley; a granddaughter, Lindy Kay Salley; a great-granddaughter, Danielle Elizabeth Salley; three sisters, Carmie Handy, Flora Hedden and Christina Gillenwater; and three brothers, Chester, Everett and Robert. ARRANGEMENTS: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Franklin Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Chambers officiating.
