G. W. Profitt, who went by General or George with the middle name Washington, was born February 23, 1854, most likely in Owsley Co., Ky and died December 6, 1887, Lacy Creek, Wolfe County, Kentucky. This obituary came from the Hazel Green newspaper dated December of 1887. His parents were Samuel C. Profitt and Melvina Madden. This family was living in Wolfe County, Kentucky by 1880 Census. G. W.
