OBITS: LACY, Edna Mae (Immel) Born: 7 September 1918 in Hartville, Stark County, Ohio Died: 5 August 1996 in Georgetown, Scott County, Kentucky� Copyright 2004 Submitted April 2004 This copy was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by Pat Lacy, eplacy@worldnet.att.net� ************************************************� Services for Edna Mae (Immel) Lacy were held August 8th, 1996 at 10:00 AM at the Tucker, Yocum and Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Georgetown, Kentucky. The service was conducted by the Rev Scott Cox and the Rev Fred Nippert. Burial was in the Hazel Green Cemetery, Wolfe County, Kentucky, after visitation from 1 to 3 PM, and a service at 3:00 PM at the Porter and Son Funeral Home in Campton, Kentucky on August 8th. Mrs. Lacy was the retired Director of Nursing at the John Graves Ford Memorial Hospital in Georgetown; former Director of Nursing at the Pineville Community Hospital, Bell County, Kentucky; and a former member of the Frontier Nursing Service in Wolfe County, Kentucky. In the Frontier Nursing Service, Edna worked for several years with Dr. Hiram Blood. With Dr. Blood she assisted in the work at the hospital at the Hazel Green Academy (set up in the second floor of the Boy's Dormitory) and with the care of the sick among the hills and hollows traveling by jeep, buggy, horseback or by walking. Edna Mae had been a graduate of the Salem City Hospital Nursing Class of 1938, Salem, Ohio, before coming to Wolfe County to work with Dr. Blood. After leaving Wolfe County in 1951, Mrs. Lacy continued her nursing career in West Virginia and Tennessee before moving to Pineville, Kentucky and later Georgetown, Kentucky. She was an official for the Kentucky Nursing Association, a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the First Christian Church in Georgetown, where she also served as a deacon. Edna was an active RV camper, a member of the local square dance club in Scott County, an avid reader and she enjoyed sewing. Survivors include her husband, William Earl Lacy, Sr., Georgetown, whom she married the 7th of April, 1945; three children: William Earl Lacy, Jr., Ocala, Florida, Katherine Ann (Lacy) Nippert, Westphalia, Indiana, and John Andrew Lacy of Georgetown; five grandchildren: Robert Douglas Lacy, Savannah, Georgia, Karen Lynn Nippert, Timothy David Nippert and Susan Marie Nippert, all of Indiana, and Preston Scott Lacy of Georgetown; one great-grandchild, Savannah Lynn Lacy, Savannah, Georgia; one sister, Thelma Immel, Georgetown; one brother, Ivan D. Immel, Manatee County, Florida; two daughters-in-law: Patricia Ann (Akers) Lacy, Ocala, Florida, and Rosemary (Shivley) Lacy, Georgetown; one son-in-law, the Rev Fred Nippert; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
