Obituary: Spencer, Lester - Saturday, March 17, 2001 Middletown Journal - March 2001 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** Lester Spencer Lester "Les" Spencer, born Sept. 24, 1934, in Baptist, Ky., and a 25-year resident of the Morongo Basin, Calif., died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at High Desert Continuing Care Center, Joshua Tree, Calif. Mr. Spencer was born to Darley Spencer and Estella (Osborne) Spencer. He worked as a CPA for 12 years and as a construction worker before becoming disabled in 1972. He lived as a quadriplegic for the last 28 years. He was an elder in The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Yucca Valley, Calif. He was the recipient of a certificate of appreciation from High Desert Continuing Care as a goodwill ambassador. Mr. Spencer is survived by his wife, Donna of Joshua Tree, Calif.; a daughter, Sandy Rodriguez of Joshua Tree; a son, Brian Keith Spencer of Middletown, Ohio; five sisters, Reva Pierce of Joshua Tree, Betty Jessup of Saskatchewan, Canada, Wanda Keefe of West Chester, Ohio, and Shirley Gassaway and Darlene Matthews, both of Pamplico, S.C.; four brothers, Paul Spencer and Wendell Spencer, both of Middletown, L. Keith Spencer of Trenton, Ohio, and Gregory Spencer of Yucca Valley, Calif.; his mother, Estella Spencer of Middletown; and three grandchildren. ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Yucca Valley, Calif., with Warren Stoker officiating.
