Wells, daughter of the late William H. and Rosalind Byrd Chambers, was born Aug. 2, 1888, at Stillwater, Ky., and died Nov. 12, 1978, at 90 years of age. She married Roscoe C. Wells, March 19, 1909. They were parents of nine children - five boys and four girls; Ralph Emerson Wells, Frankfort, Ky., John Wells, Middletown, Ohio; Pershing Wells, who died in 1930; R.C. Wells, Louisa, Ky.; and Bill J. Wells, Franklin, Ohio; Golden Allen, Campton, Ky.; Rosalyn Alcorn, Liberty, Indiana; Zuda Marker, Lexington, Ky., and Elizabeth Hurst, Holton, Indiana. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Daisy Chambers, and a brother, Henry C. Chambers, both of Campton. Mrs. Wells was assistant postmaster at Baptist for 30 years and ran a country store while her husband taught school. When she was 63 years old she returned to college and received a teaching Certificate and taught until she retired at age 70. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a generous, helpful neighbor who was loved by all who knew her. Best of all she was a life long Christian, loved the Lord with all her heart and asked His guidance in everything she did. Her church meant so much to her and she attended as long as she was able. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her but our loss is Heaven's gain. ******************************************************************** These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by any other organization or persons.
