He was a native of St. Helens, Lee County, and was a son of the late Brutus Clay and Elizabeth Duff McGuire. He was a veteran of World Wars I and II and was a member of the Christian Chruch, of Irivne, Lodge No. 137 of Free and Accepted masons and the Clarence Field Post. Ashland, of the American Legion. He is survived by: his wife, Winifred C. Cyrus McGuire, a step-son, George C. Evans, with the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C; three sisters, Mrs. C.L. Hudgins, and Mrs. John B. Craig, both of Lexington, and Miss Hallie B. McGuire of Cincinnati and a brother, W.W. McGuire of Ashland. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday afternoon, April 19 at 3 p.m. at the W.R. Milward Mortuary Chapel by the Rev. W.P. Fryman and the Rev. Leslie R. Smith. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Sam Marshall, R.P. Giles, Charles Ambrose, J.M. Ridgeway, Jess B. Thompson and E.R. Snowden. Honorary bearers were: Hieronymus, I.M. Combs, Robert Dickey, L.H. Lucas, G.E. Childers, F.A. Burns, George McGuire, J.B. Newell, J.E. McCormic, B.H. Jacobs, Co., Fred Staples, Lt. Col. Owen Durham, Lt. Col. Ferell Lewis, Major Blaine Kidwell, Lt. Col. Ray E. Bagley, Capt. A.J. May and Captain Eddie Most. The deceased was a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. A.T.
