Obituary: Slade, Helen Rose McCoun - Monday, October 23, 2006 Lexington Herald-Leader - October 25, 2006 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** CYNTHIANA- Helen Rose McCoun Slade, age 82, Culpepper Drive, Cynthiana, died Mon, Oct. 23, 2006, at her residence. Born in Campton, Apr. 12, 1924, to the late S. C. and Emma Trimble Swango McCoun, she was a homemaker, a member of the Cynthiana Christian Church and a charter member of the Cynthiana Country Club. Mrs. Slade attended the University of Kentucky, served as a Navy Wave during World War II and was a member of the Woman's Club of Harrison County. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Blaine Slade. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Cal B. "C.B." Slade, Jr.; a daughter, Diane Slade, Lexington; a brother, Edsel E. (Mary Jean) McCoun, Jackson; a sister, Lillian (Cornelius) Nantz, Dayton, OH; two grandchildren, R. B. (Kim) Slade II and Whitney Slade Hedges, both of Cynthiana; three great grandchildren, Savannah and Mason Hedges and Payton Slade and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thu at the Cynthiana Christian Church by Dr. Larry Bishop. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wed at Ware Funeral Home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Battle Grove Cemetery or Hospice of the Bluegrass. Active pallbearers will be Steve Slade, Gayle Slade, Scott McCoun, Harold Kendall, Ken Techau, Mitchell Wiley, Jim Brown and Paul Ewalt.
