Oct. 2 at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. Phenarah was born March 4, 1914. She was the daughter of the late James Spencer and Myrtle Burnett Spencer. Her husband, Bernice Smith, preceded her in death. She was a native of Wolfe County and a member of the Church of God. Surviving are three sons; Donald Smith, Cistaic, California; Mitchell Smith, Winslow, Arizona; Sidney Smith, Morehead, Minnesota; seven daughters; Dorthea Bradley, Glennie, Michigan; Pauline Perkins, Naples, Florida; Helen Joyce Chichester, Saugus, California; Sally Phillipson, Strugeon Bay, Wisconsin; Janice Gussman, Lilbrun, Georgia; Roberta Sexton Larwill, Indiana; Lillian Abbott, South Branch, Michigan; three brothers, Rev. Ben Spencer, Campbellsville; Tom Spencer, Franklin, Ohio; Oakley Spencer, Franklin, Ohio, five sisters, Elsie Ely, Campton, Viola Little, Bethany; Ruby Ballard, Trenton, Ohio; Rebecca May, Middletown, Ohio; Lucy Day, Dayton, Ohio. Thirty-eight grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the Porter and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Porter and Son Funeral Home, Campton, was in charge of arrangements. Additional funeral services were conducted in Columbia City, Indiana with Smith and Son Funeral Home, Columbia City, Indiana, was in charge of arrangements.
