Obituary: Hobbs, Charles Leo Jr. - Friday, June 10, 1977 Wolfe County News - June 17, 1977 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** PINE RIDGE MAN KILLED IN FALL IN GORGE AREA Charles Leo Hobbs, Jr., 20, of Pine Ridge died instantly Friday, June 10, when he fell from a 125 ft high cliff in the Red River Gorge area. According to Shackelford Funeral Home at Campton, Hobbs was camping in the area and was trying to descend the cliff when he stepped on a slick rock. Survivors are his parents, Charles and Flora Whisman Hobbs of Pine Ridge; two sisters, Sherry and Valerie Hobbs, both at home; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ora Hobbs and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Edna Whisman of Tar Ridge. He attended Wolfe County High School and worked as a mechanic. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, June 12 at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenville Powell officiating. Burial was in the John B.
