Roy Robert Hanks, 72, of Campton, died Monday, April 18 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington after a short illness. He was a retired State Highway Department employee, a life-long resident of Wolfe County and a member of the Campton Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife, Barsha Taylor Hanks of Campton; one son, James C. Hanks of Lebanon, Ky.; one daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Miller of Campton; four grandchildren. Angela Lynn and Bradley Hanks, Bobby Lee and Jimmy Scott Miller; one brother, Ray Hanks of Pittsburg, Pa.; one step-sister, Mrs. Carrie Mabray of Morehead, KY. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at the Campton Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Cain and Rev. Willie Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Evans Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Honorary pallbearers were W.P. Cecil, Rudene Taulbee, C.W. Murphy, Charles Hull, Bill Hollon, Lona Spencer, Jeff Rose, Goebel Cox, Earl Pence and Edgar Spencer. Active pallbearers were Bob Catron, Bob and ? Rose, Fred and Leslie Byrd, H.C.
