Stamper, Sr., 61 well known Middletown grocer for many years died at 5:05 a.m. in a Middletown hospital, Wednesday, February 8. He had been ill since September and had been a patient in the hospital several times prior to his death. Mr. Stamper had resided in Middletown since 1914, going there from Campton. He was the son of the late G.B. Stamper of Campton an attorney and Circuit Judge of Campton years ago. He was active in the organization of Retail Grocers and the Meat Dealers Association and served as its president. Mr. Stamper served in Company D of the 6th Infantry during World War I and was an active memeber of the American Legion Post No. 218. He was also interested in the progress of many of the local civic projects. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Thelma Graban, Middletown, Ohio and a son, Max Stamper, Jr. of Dayton; four grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Marian Mehl of Middletown and a brother Willard Stamper of Lexington. His wife Luna Adams Stamper died in 1953. She had been active with him in the grocery business.
