Obituary: Alexander, Roger Harold - Friday, January 21, 1977 Wolfe County News - Jan. 1977 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** After an eleven month illness, Roger Harold Alexander, born Jan. 27, 1919, died at his home at Pine Ridge on Jan. 21, 1977, just six days short of his 58th birthday. He was the son of Sam and Qualia Collier Alexander. He was married on Dec. 24, 1941 to Marvella Cable, daughter of Greely and Lula Hobbs Cable. Survivors besides his wife, Marvella are one son, Marvin, one daughter Phyllis Amyx and one great grandaughter, Barbara Lynn Amyx all of Campton. Other survivors are his father, Sam Alexander of Pine Ridge; two brothers, Dester of Dayton, Ohio and Eugene of Middletown; four sisters, Eunice Roberts, Vine Grove, Kentucky, Cleeta Wireman, Stanton, Ky.; Pauline Heizer, Middletown, Ohio and Golden Bush of Pine Ridge. Mr. Alexander was a member of the Campton United Methodist Church, the American Legion and was a Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 464, and the Lexington Scottish Rites. Masonic rites were conducted Saturday night at Shackelford Funeral Home. Rev. Ben Cain conducted the services at the Campton Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23.
