Obituary: Akers, Edgar Jr. - Sunday, October 2, 1977 Wolfe County News - Oct. 7, 1977 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** DEATH CLAIMS EDGAR AKERS Edgar Akers, Jr., 77, husband of Callie Akers of Lee City, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in West Liberty, after a long illness. He was a native of Wolfe County, a retired farmer and coal miner and a member of the Holiness Church. Other survivors include six sons, Edwin Akers of Catlettsburg, John, Dorsie, James and Keith Akers, all of Lee City, and Curt Akers of Winchester; five daughters, Mrs. Phoebee Trusty of Lee City, Mrs. Viola Mills of Orlando, Florida, Mrs. Alma Craig of Lexington, Mrs. Geraldine Green of Dayton, Ohio and Mrs. Shirley Oldfield of Buskirk; one brother, Oscar Akers of Fritz; two sisters, Mrs. Rhoda Patrick of Winchester, and Mrs. Marie Patrick of Newport; 20 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wed. Oct. 5, at the Lee City Mission Church with Rev. Elmer Robinson and Rev. Mike Frisby officiating. Burial was in the Clair Cemetery, on Cook Branch near the Lee City.
