WOLFE COUNTY NEWS - July 8, 1953

WOLFE NATIVE DIES JUNE 30 IN NEW MEXICO	

J.J. Hughes, a former resident of Campton, Ky for many years died at 
his home in Las Cruces, N. Mexico, Tuesday, June 30 of a heart attack.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jane Hughes, Las Cruces, and two sons, 
Orvis Hughes, Las Cruces, and Ora, of the U.S. Navy also one daughter, 
Mrs. Foyster Sharpe, Kentucky, and some grandchildren.

Mrs. Sharpe (Gwendolyn) and husband were visiting her parents at the 
time of her father's death.

Details of funeral and burial have not been received here as yet.

J.J. Hughes and wife owned and operated the brick store in Campton, now 
known as the Frank Rose Store, for many years and were loyal members of 
the Campton Baptist Church at the time they lived here; but had 
transferred their membership to the Baptist church in Las Cruces since moving 
there.
